So, as the Sheffs noted, I was bit by the classic Valkyrie bug after his little get together.

I knew it, he knew it, every body knew it. What did you all do to me?

Well it would seem life is trying to scoot my bottom into gear a bit sooner than I was expecting. A couple months ago, a friend who was very close to the riding community passed away. He had two Valkyries and circumstances have swung fate my way after I mentioned doing a tribute for him on one of his bikes.

This is his Valkyrie, a 2003 model. Looks like I'll own two Valkyries in the near future, and I blame ALL OF YOU!

Pappy!

Would be faster if it had a red racing stripe on it buy hey....not everyone can have one of them.
Very nice bike and I bet your buddy is happy you are the one that ended up with it. Give him a hello every time you pull out of the garage!

Pete

Hell, many of us share the blame for everything else, so why not this too.
And you are welcome.

Moofner

I may blame you all, but I'm certainly not mad! Best scapegoats ever!

I did a little research and saw the 2003s were black only standards. Which of you gurus can tell what has been done from the photos?

Pappy!

We all can but, since you blamed us, we're not telling.

Farside

I hear ya Moof!  :uglystupid2: I used that same mind set blaming my cousin after he got his Valk first. Now I am at two also!   The wife didn't go for it though.  :tickedoff: But she is over it now, thank goodness.

You are absolved of all guilt. Share your wisdom so I can re-blame you.

Some guys run them crooked.  Go figure.

Whenever I see them like that, the first thought that comes to mind is..... Huh, the guy dropped his bike, and didn't straighten his mirrors yet.     ;D

I believe I see a clock 8)

You will spend a lot of time looking at Valkyrie accessories.
My last doctors visit he ask me how I spend my time. I told him I look at motorcycle accessories for the Valkyrie, usually when I first get up, then some through out the day and usually before I go to bed.
When I was making my next appointment he came up and handed me a prescription. It was to go see a phychiatrist, he had written on it that I have an obsessive compulsive disorder :crazy2:

He obviously has never owned a Valkyrie  :uglystupid2:
Your bike looks great, but your mirrors are a touch tilted. In honor of your friend maybe tilted is the way to go, and just consentrate on BLING, BLING, AND MORE BLING :cooldude:

I'm going to have to rethink my riding outfit! No need for a full face behind this windscreen!

Um.....correct me if I a wrong. Am thinking the full face is more for the result of that "WTF" moment between passing through the windscreen and the landing.

Moofner

I've got a 3 quarter full face shield for the face smashing part. That front bike  shield blocks all air to a full face. I won't be getting rid of the jacket anytime soon, but the helmet is just too hot without more wind!

Don't worry, There Is Nothing Wrong With Owning More Than One Valkyrie At One Time, Just Ask Me  ! ;D :cooldude:
Life Is A Highway, I Wanna Ride It All Night Long !

Moofner

So here are my first impressions after I've had some thinking time.

The 1800 Valkyrie has spoiled me. It is so easy to ride that you can quickly forget how to handle a proper cruiser. The 1500 Valkyrie made me work a bit harder to enjoy the ride (this is not a complaint).

Engine performance saw me trying to push the bike harder to get the same response and output as my 1800, which to be fair to the 1500, isn't possible. I read up that the cobra 6x6 results in lost power but the bike doesn't pop at all on deceleration, which means it is jetted right. I love the sound so I'm not changing anything! The bike has 34,000+ miles on it. Plenty of life left in this motor.

The brakes were very spongy. The bike is 13 years old so that can be more mechanical based than the actual brake system. I think new pads and steel braided lines are in order.

Suspension needs work. My wife and I are just too heavy for the stock suspension. Suggestions welcome.

The windscreen is a mixed blessing! I've never really owned or purchased a windscreen this tall. I've heard horror stories of getting caught in rain and losing visibility, but this thing blocked all bugs and excessive wind! Was pretty nice. Is there a kit a make it a quick disconnect?

Tires were Metzler 880s. Nothing wrong with them, super grippy. Any reports on life expectancy with this heavy of a bike?

Everything else is chrome bling and showcase stuff. I can see myself doing a lot of chrome polishing. I'd also like to add more lights to the front for visibility and possibly some additional lighting in the rear. Shouldn't be too hard since I've already conquered the 1800's light situation.

Any thoughts ladies and gentlemen?

Progressive (brand) springs in front.

Progressive 444 or Works Performance rear shocks...
