So......

I'm needing a new front tire.....I prefer Metzler front tires....got this bias ply for $142.55.......

http://www.bikebandit.com/…/metzeler-me-880-marathon-motorc…

or the Metz 150/80VR-17 for $183.99......

 http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/…/metzeler-me-880-mara…

Not sure it's worth another $40

I also need some new rear brake pads($21.75).....and should probably get that Hanger pin plug($3.61)....and maybe even the hanger pin($6.75)....those prices are from partzilla......never ordered from them before....HDL seems to have been slow the last time I tried buying from them......

I'd recommend a Shinko but many wouldn't.

I'd recommend OEM pads.

I've tried all but Avon front tires.....mainly because I remember you had a bad run of them on the front......Avon is the only tire I run on the back......I tried an E3 on the front one time......it was noisy from day 1 to the last day.....Longevity on the rear tires are Avon-8k-9.5Kish miles.....Metz's around 6K......

Definitely going with OEM brake pads.......seems like I buggered up that pin hanger plug the last time I changed the rear pads..... Cheesy Cheesy

That was about 10 years ago when Ken at Kens Tires had to put on 5 different Avon fronts to find one that didn't need a pound of weight to balance it.

Yes.....it's a little cheaper here.....

150/80-17 (72H) Metzeler ME880 Marathon Front Motorcycle Tire

Part# 1197660031

I'm just wondering if a Bias ply/ versus the radial type is really worth it on our Fat Lady's......

A little under 13,000 miles on my front Avon. I can probably get another 1500-2000 miles out of it. I have a brand new Avon waiting to be mounted before I head off for Inzane. I will try my best to put another 1000 miles on the current tire before I get it changed in the first week of June.

Stan, the bias is OK, even good; the radial is a superior tire (especially cranking and banking where you want every advantage you can get).

I only get 8K on my ME880R fronts.  I could probably get 1K more, but not safely.

Steamer, I just changed out a Metz bias ply in January, had just over 17k on it, use it with a car tire in back. As for a rear Metz, when I used their 200/60 I always got in the 12k range. Had a couple totally ruined from road hazards, really aggravating since they both only had about 5k. Got tired of the cost of replacing with another m/c so went with a c/t. I never got good mileage with a 180 size Metz.
