Grin We recently had the Laughlin River Run in our area. 90% Harley riders. I get a kick out of giving them the wave to have them look away when they realize its not another Harley. You've got to remember most of these people that go to these are in it for "the lifestyle" they really don't ride much.

Your not on  a Harley simple as that. That's the mind set of a lot of these people.  Funny thing is a lot of these types haven't even been riding 5 years.  30 years ago it was much much worse, I wouldn't let it bother me you ride to please yourself it really doesn't much matter what you ride. Hey they spent 25000 plus on a bike they want to feel special let em who cares.

What MH said X2.

Yes $25000. and 25 miles doesnt make you a biker .   Besides,..those  HD's are a 1922 pushrod engine design,  they are buying image.  What they (engine) are is two cylinders from a radial engine from the early 1900's . Those 9 cylinder radial airplane engine designs.  OLD .

When I am out driving doing errands or running kids around I see bikes out and about everywhere. But when I take a nice afternoon ride in the cool of the day I see very few bikes. It's like when I start the mighty Valkyrie up most other bikes go into hiding.

That's funny DarkSider....same thing here. At home or driving around town, I hear HDs throughout the day. Then when I finally find time to take out the valk, I don't see the first one. I would be lying if I didn't admit to yearning for that first time to pull up to a light next to an HD and drowned it out with my 6 in 6 Cobras as I hole-shot off the line.

Dark side/Aries.   That reminds me of a time I was at Bike Week in Daytona few years ago.  Wife and I was across the street from the race track. We had just picked up a camping chair at wally world bungee'd to the luggage rack  (98 Tourer) .  At the light we were stopped at pulled up one of those Big Dog choppers, on the engine it says 108 CID and 108 horse power.  I looked over at the guy (solo) and he was laughing it up with his buds, checking the left mirror there was about 10 of them riding two abreast. I was in right lane, they were pointing at us  and hamming it up good about my Fat Lady (bike, not my Lady).  Imagine the picture , A Tourer with two aboard and a chair bungee'd across the rack,..Being the Drag racer that I am (I am). It P****d me off. I told wife to hang on, (stupid I know)  When the light changed I dropped the clutch and was off...about 1500 feet about 2 1/2 blocks and speedo reading 100  I rolled off and mouth was just about 75 feet behind me , I know he had his foot into it because the rest of them was a good block behind him.  Rolling up to next light I looked over and he would not make eye contact and the group wasn't laughing anymore. Their 'champion' just got spanked .  Two up and with a chair strapped to rack . They were in left turning lane so you know what they did.   Mine will go 12.30-12.40 everyday in 1/4 mile at the drag strip and probably low 13 's with wife. That big Dog won't do low 13's . Stupid,..yes, but I couldn't let that go.  I dont do the street race anymore,   I would be the first one to tell my son to never do anything stupid like that !  Wife just patted me on the shoulder and said "Well done" .  Proud of both my girls and yes the Valk is bone stock.  Glad no cops were around,  they were all on main street.

Ride safe (yep)

I did a local toy run, thousands of bikes, and mostly HD's. At the end of the run they were lining all the bikes up in the parking lot. A flagman directed me to my spot and lined me up. The 2 guys that were previously parked to my left scoffed and left. Then the next bike ignored the flag man and parked a couple of slots down from me. I first thought to myself "I must stink", but then I slowly realized how the big Valk dwarfs some HD's. I just stood a distance from the Valk and watched guys come over to look at it. It was such a spectacle I had to take a picture of it.

Too funny...based on the photo, I don't what would have been more intimidating, the engine size or the rear tire? There's quite a gap all around your bike.

I call that photo "Valkyrie Berth". I had the bike in the Hot Rod Mod, pretty mean looking.

You guys sure spend a lot of time worrying about Harley-Davidson and how other riders feel about your motorcycle.

Roadog, like the story.

I wonder how many bikers (including current HD) started as I did with a dirt bike be it Jap or Euro. Yes HD made a dirt bike but for me, only in a picture, never had one on the dirt near me if so I would have spanked it. Just like Roadog, the wife and I were heading out for food and we were really hungry. Moving along the wife and I passed two solo riders and in an instant I knew they did not like that I did and their 45mph was now 65ish. I squeezed Sherry's leg and she knows what that means.  I let them come up and pass me and I could so clearly see the nanny nanny bo bo as they did. Dropped a gear and let the 1500 go, and go she did well into triple digits.  Fellas, rocking your bike is not going to make it faster.  2funny  no attempt to get near at the next light. And Sherry says lets do that again.  No fear that girl.
