Well, thats nice. Good for him.

I didn't know the Parkway was completely open.  We stopped taking it years ago because too many sections were closed, detours took more miles than the Parkway.

Construction is done as needed.

This is a good web page to bookmark. Sometimes you have to refresh the page for the graphic to show.

I was able to ride the complete distance from north to south in Sept 1013.. Some of it was new, so that probable explains the detours.

That was a long time ago, Hook.  Wasn't that a little before the Normans invaded England?   ???

Yeah, did it by horse with a Cherokee guide, nice guy.

Oh, wait, horse's weren't here then.

Umm, did it by foot.

I may off a year, but, I think we stopped using the Parkway about 999 years after that.  Grin

It was never ending, every year there were more detours. So, Maybe we can start using it again.

Patrick, I bet some of the detours were nice rides.  Just about anything next to the BRP is, except maybe around the cities of Ashville and Roanoke.

But then, as far as cities go, that's some nice country.

It is a beautiful part of this country and we did find some great little joints in the small towns along the way.

One little family restaurant cracked me up. We sat down to eat and I ordered a beer, the young waitress kept telling me this was a family restaurant. I explained that I understood, but, still wanted to order a beer with dinner. She kept saying the only beer they had was Bud to which I kept saying Bud was fine as long as I got one. She pretty well went nuts when I ordered a second. She had to have the owners come to talk with me and did everything to dissuade me. It didn't work.  Apparently everyone was in shock when we left because there was no disturbance or arrest made and we all had a lot of fun and laughs. The fried green tomatoes and country fried steak were great, we should go back. Hmm, maybe all those 2 beers had something to do with that.
