Group of Atheists, Humanists Sues to Remove National Motto “In God We Trust” from U.S. Currency

https://firstliberty.org/newsroom/group-of-atheists-humanists-sues-to-remove-national-motto-in-god-we-trust-from-u-s-currency-first-liberty-fights-back/

The Department of Justice responded to the attack by filing a motion to dismiss the lawsuit. First Liberty, on behalf of The American Legion, the largest veterans organization in the United States, filed an amicus curiae (friend-of-the-court) brief in support of the motion in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Ohio.

This great country allows us all to follow our own religious whatevers OR NOT..and thank God for that.
Its in the constitution. and thank God for that.
I will fully support an atheists right NOT to be bombarded by what they might deam indoctrination...but..really feck off...we dont pray in schools anymore, and heaven forbid you give credit to anyone other than your coach if you make a goal/run/score etc...but its getting a bit old.
I dont bitch about Jewish holidays, I'm not offended if I see some quanza thing...so back off if the currency makes a reference to the founding of this country

That motto had nothing to do with the countries founding or founders, much less a national motto.  It first appeared on coins in 1864 at the behest of James Pollock, Pennsilvania's so called "Great Christian Governor".  It was the 84th  Congress during the Eisenhower administration that passed a resolution declaring it the nations motto.  Our founding fathers were smart enough and wise enough not to try and establish an official religion.

I do not think saying "In God we Trust" establishes a national religion that all must follow.  That is a VERY long stretch. I realize Liberals make it all the time.

I'm all for it, if it is replaced with....  Do not trust the US government.

Otherwise, it should be left in place.

Well I read Wikipedia about 1871.  Seems like a pretty staid year.  Only thing that stood out as it might relate to members here was New York issued a charter to the NRA.
