All the songs on JJ Cale's Troubadore album are
about whiskey and long legged women...

Listening to the John Prine station on Pandora today and a Bob Dylan song came on - and I recognized it as the soundtrack on The Big Lebowski - opening credits & the bowling fantasy sequence.  I'll be cursed.  Enjoyed it all over again and had to thumbs-up it.  The Dude abides.

We lost Guy Clark this past week.  Texas' finest troubadour (sorry Willie) and painter of pictures with a guitar; 74 years of stories about the heartland.

I said in a post the other day, there are two kinds of music -- good and bad.

That said, thank God for the good!  I was "Just a Singer in a Rock-n-Roll Band" way back when, and I love so many genres ranging from Americana to country, blues, funk, punk, bluegrass, Roadhouse, Southern Rock, some classical, Native American, roots, dancehall, and dub reggae -- you name it (with the notable exceptions of death metal, rap and most opera) Just finished watching a great Merle Haggard concert on Axs TV.  He was a talented dude.  I still love the old rock classics, but they are, well, old.  Kinda get sick of 'em.  I never really liked mainstream "pop" music much.

Lately I've been enjoying internet radio a LOT for the refreshing variety.  Been listening to Boot Liquor radio quite a bit.

https://somafm.com/player/#/now-playing/bootliquor  Good Texas Roadhouse and Americana.

EDIT: There an Android app called TuneIn Radio Pro that allows you to record internet radio streams to your phone's micro SD card and play them back without data or WiFi.  Great for riding music!

I listen to Pandora while I'm working in the shop pretty much continuously. Sometimes you can't hear it over the mill or lathe, sometimes we've got to turn it off to listen to a firearms mechanism or customer.

Since my son Andy works with me quite a bit we both add stations and mostly keep it on shuffle. Thanks to that and our diverse musical tastes we've both been getting our musical horizons broadened. We both like classic rock, new rock, blues, jazz and some folk. He's introduced me to a lot of country music, The Pretty Reckless, and the Reverend Payton's Big Damn Band to name a few.

I've got him listening to Yes, the Winters, Procol Harum and Roger Miller among others. The Allman Brothers, Ozzy, John Prine & Van Morrison show up frequently too. And of course, Pandora introduces us to new music pretty often.

Here's an artist Andy introduced me to named Chris Knight. Some truly haunting country music, great voice. This one could easily be a small town, river bottom Indiana story.

Always been a traditional bluegrass & western guy, along with singer/songwriters like the GREAT John Prine, Townes Van Zandt, etc. Also heavy into roots music....especially with You Tube now you can source out so many fabulous newer artists that never get to radio of any kind (so their music stays true and uncommercialized cooldude). So many great recordings from all the music festivals around North America, from where I've found the bulk of my playlists. Spinney Brothers from Nova Scotia;Trampled By Turtles from MN; John Fullbright from OK; Pokey Lafarge from MO; are just a few on my current playlists.

I enjoy all the music that you can find on youtube that you don't hear on the airwaves. I found this software that is free and it will extract the sound file from any youtube video. Then I put it on my mp3 player and listen while I ride. Check it out. Its awesome

I think most of the stuff on youtube is illegal, it would be like stealing from a
thief. I like to watch Dylan start Idiot Wind from the Rolling Thunder tour on
youtube, but it gets yanked pretty quickly whenever someone puts it up...

They say I shot a man named Gray
And took his wife to Italy
She inherited a million bucks
and when she died
it came to me
I can't help it
if I'm lucky...

I see it here:

I am enjoying all of the music suggested in this post.

Since Inzane 16 is in West Virginia, how about a West Virginia artist and some coal mine related music?
