My neighbor down the street just bought the new Indian model the springfield. Said he paid out the door about 25000 for it.  Asked me to ride it I politely declined he insisted so I said what the hell Ill just take it around the block.  The fit and finish is spectacular very comfortable to ride but handling was a little awkward for me at slower speeds since all I ever ride is my 98 Valkyrie standard and the Valkyrie to me handles fantastic always.  Very nice bike I praised the bike in front of him even though inside I was thinking I still prefer my old 98 Valkyrie just didn't have the heart to say it to him. I'm still amazed how good these old bikes still are compared to all of the newer bikes with all the newest technology the Valkyrie to me is still right up there at the top in the cruiser world. Just my opinion.

I have a 1998 tourer it is one of the best production motorcycles ever made by any motorcycle company in the world. It has run flawlessly for 18 years & still looks like brand new. They truly hit a home run with the Valk or should i say grand slam. I feel blessed to own the one i have.

I have owned pretty much every production bike made since the late 50's and a few from even earlier (the glaring exception being Indian). The '97 Tourer I currently have is now looking for an IS stable mate to produce more rum-rumm sounds in the middle of the winter while snow-bound. I believe that sums up my feelings for the Large Ladies.   uglystupid2

am surprised a friend or neighbor would allow anyone to ride their new 25K bike. I wouldn't, but that is just me since my insurance, if damaged or in an accident, would go against me and raise my rates, etc.   Same as for a vehicle of any kind I own, ONLY immediate family members drive them.  I wouldn't even let my brother drive my vehicles, same as for my ATV's that are not insured especially.

I wouldn't ask anyone to ride their bike but ONLY if interested in buying it of course.

Agree, the old Valks are still, in my opinion, in the top 5-6 full size cruisers EVER made.  Although, a new Wing or F6B or fully decked out new Valk might be on par or above.  Nothing like 6 cylinders!  cooldude

My wife's Indian Chieftain has a lot more suspension travel, interlocked anti-lock brakes, fuel injection, electric movable windshield,a lot more high quality chrome and paint, a lot more torque-119 ft lbs---it's a 20 year newer more advanced motorcycle--me? I just love the sound of the flat 6 thru an open Viking header helped by a DYNA-3000 rolling thru the gears to 7,200 RPM......the cranky old man across the street hates me---but then all he rides is his Sears lawn mower...... 2funny
