That's a nice story.

I'd never seen a HB till a few weeks ago. Was really hard to take a picture of. I managed a couple of so so shots and then when I had given up that little begger flew right up to me and hovered for about 5 seconds 3 feet away! I got his picture but blurry as the camera was on the wrong setting as it hung around my neck. All I could do was push the button.

I managed this one at about 30' away later in the evening. Wasn't much light so its grainy but was the best one I got.

I like Hummingbirds and apparently, they don't mind me too much. (Similar to my wife.)

Not sure precisely how many but, my wife is always messing around the kitchen making HB food and then running around the yard filling up HB feeders. We think we've got about a dozen HBs that dine at our expense but, they are so flighty that it's hard to determine just how many there are. Additionally, they tend to guard their feeders with aggressive tactics that would make an Apache Pilot proud.

Haven't had one land on me yet but, they've hovered within inches of my nose. Very interesting and pretty birds.   Of course, Bowser likes to try and catch one, he doesn't have a snow ball's chance in hell.  But, he keeps trying.   2funny

Don't know how old they get, but I get the same ones coming back every year.
Seems to always be the same two on front porch and a different same two on the deck in back.
Sometimes there seems to be a few different ones around (kids?), but it's hard to tell, they're so elusive  ???

At the ups and downs ranch there is a slew of hummingbird feeders

They sure can buzz.  Its quite a spectacle to watch from the porch

Miss that place...........  and its owners  great people
