So I bought the two pac Sena 20 set for my wife and I spent gobs of time digesting the instructions and after I started to slightly understand it we then started to spend about one hour each night walking around the house with our helmets on going through various command exercises and it is working out very well now.  Last night long after we finished our helmet time I was in the kitchen and the wife started to bless me out for not putting the dirty cereal bowl in the sink (thoroughly rinsed mind you) rather I placed it on the counter next to the sink. Terrible isn’t it?! After she let me have it I turned to her and without even thinking I said END INTERCOM! You should have seen the look she gave me.  Angry        2funny   angel

Resurrecting this not-so-old bad boy, because I'm flummoxed. My riding buddy got one to bt to his phone for tunes and the rare phone call, and he loves it. I'm thinking of getting a dual set for myself and my much better half. We've been talking about it for years, but haven't pulled the trigger mostly because of cost and the fact that we really don't do a whole lot of 2-up rides. I'd probably use it most yapping with my buddy on our rides ... if I were to get one at all.

So I gave the 20S a more serious look yesterday, downloading the user manual and really trying to get a feel for how it works. Now I'm not an uber-geek, but I'm also not new to technology; I've got all kinds of electronic toys, some of which talk to each other, but admittedly most of which I don't use to their fullest potential. About two pages into the manual I had to just close it and step away, because it all seemed just too goddamm complicated to accomplish the simple task of talking to somebody. That, plus trying to figure out where and how to install it in my Scorpion EXO1200 lid (looking inside it, I have absolutely no idea where my ears actually sit when it's on my head, just for starters). Maybe there's just too much other crap going on in my life to be able to give it serious enough thought, I don't know. Or maybe I just don't really want one bad enough to put enough thought into it to make a decision.  I just can't seem to figure out where the hell to begin, and that's pretty much been the case every other time I've thought about looking into them. These things are not cheap enough that trial-and-error is a viable approach. Seems my patience for such things continues to dwindle as the years tick away.

If you just want to try one to see if you are serious about, you can find many on Ebay from overseas for under $50.00. I have used one for years and it works well. Never tried to pair up with someone else's but for listening to MP3s, GPS and occasional phone call it works well. Also lets you figure out the helmet placement part of it.

I am assuming you are recently deceased  Wink so will be watching for your jade lady to be listed for sale.  I'd like a second to attach a sidecar to.

That's only because Sena insists on feature overkill and fans only push Sena.

Try checking out the brand-new Interphones

http://webbikeworld.com

or the UClear series (disclosure: I purchased the UClear HBC200 in December).  All the real-world functionality you need, none of the overkill garbage you don't.  And they sound better than the Senas too, probably because they can devote more time to sound than features.

I may not recommend the UClear for your needs, as I am still trying to get clear voice communications with an Arai helmet and the Pro headset, but the Interphones have standard mics and should do fantastic.  On the other hand, UClear has the best remote and some of the best speaker audio quality in the industry, so it's a give and take (the Sena remote is ridiculous).

I bought a Sena 20S last week and took it on a long weekend ride. I have to say that I like my J&M CB much better. With the CB I only have to hear what the other people say to me or to a group. With the Sena I have to listen to them talk to their wives, coughing, breathing into the mike, cussing cars, etc. I am definitely not a big Sena fan..... plus the volume is low for music and forget listening to an audio book at highway speed. The phone volume is very loud however.

I agree it is a lot to digest. What I did was read and use the system then read and then use the next feature and so on and so on. When I felt I was getting it I cranked the air con (We are in Florida) and my wife and I wore our helmets in the house for about an hour per night using different features until we were getting it down pat. If you get this I would be more than happy to PM assist.

I have a brother-in-law that has a 1500 tourer he makes it clear he is first in line from time to time. But we might ride side by side one day. Sherry and I will semi retire to Mountian Home where we have land in 2 or so years, that is the plan.

dinosnake.
This system sounds like a good option people reading this should check into.

You are deciding to keep the intercoms open and I agree, yuck. That is why after my first sneeze we decided to make intercom as a on call basis.  sena life is great now.
