Resurrecting this not-so-old bad boy, because I'm flummoxed. My riding buddy got one to bt to his phone for tunes and the rare phone call, and he loves it. I'm thinking of getting a dual set for myself and my much better half. We've been talking about it for years, but haven't pulled the trigger mostly because of cost and the fact that we really don't do a whole lot of 2-up rides. I'd probably use it most yapping with my buddy on our rides ... if I were to get one at all.
So I gave the 20S a more serious look yesterday, downloading the user manual and really trying to get a feel for how it works. Now I'm not an uber-geek, but I'm also not new to technology; I've got all kinds of electronic toys, some of which talk to each other, but admittedly most of which I don't use to their fullest potential. About two pages into the manual I had to just close it and step away, because it all seemed just too goddamm complicated to accomplish the simple task of talking to somebody. That, plus trying to figure out where and how to install it in my Scorpion EXO1200 lid (looking inside it, I have absolutely no idea where my ears actually sit when it's on my head, just for starters). Maybe there's just too much other crap going on in my life to be able to give it serious enough thought, I don't know. Or maybe I just don't really want one bad enough to put enough thought into it to make a decision. I just can't seem to figure out where the hell to begin, and that's pretty much been the case every other time I've thought about looking into them. These things are not cheap enough that trial-and-error is a viable approach. Seems my patience for such things continues to dwindle as the years tick away.
That's only because Sena insists on feature overkill and fans only push Sena.
Try checking out the brand-new Interphones
http://webbikeworld.comor the UClear series (disclosure: I purchased the UClear HBC200 in December). All the real-world functionality you need, none of the overkill garbage you don't. And they sound better than the Senas too, probably because they can devote more time to sound than features.
I may not recommend the UClear for your needs, as I am still trying to get clear voice communications with an Arai helmet and the Pro headset, but the Interphones have standard mics and should do fantastic. On the other hand, UClear has the best remote and some of the best speaker audio quality in the industry, so it's a give and take (the Sena remote is ridiculous).
