Rock in the tread of your tire? Or maybe a nail in it?

Bad wheel bearing will do that.  With the rear wheel off the ground, grab the bottom of the wheel well and try to move it side to side.  The movement will be "microscopic" so pay attention, tic tic tic=bad bearing

Worn brake pads is another possibility. Loose pad material rubbing the drilled holes in the disc.

Yeah, you're going to want to get her up on a lift and zero in where that noise is coming from. If it's coming from the left side of the bike it's likely the brakes, but if it's coming from the right side, could be your drivetrain.  And like someone else mentioned it could be something like wheel bearings. Of course you're going to first rule out something like a nail or screw, or something even more simple like a rock stuck in your tread ;D

Yep had a piece of copper wir stuck in a new tire and had a click when cornering slow and cursed if that copper hitting the asphalt didn't make a clicking sound. Rule out the easy stuff first :cooldude:

You are a brave man.  I have no doubt the shop will be able to install a new U-joint and charge you hundreds to do it.  What I wouldn't have faith in is whether or not they put the rear end back together right.

You can get a u-joint for around $70 and could put it in yourself and know the final drive and wheel are properly aligned and the splines are properly greased.  I took my forks to a shop (not the whole bike) and they rebuilt both forks tubes for $90 and then I put them back on the bike.

On the other hand....the best way to learn how to work on your bike is to take it to a Dealership, pay them hundreds to fix it and then have to go back and redo their mistakes.
