Just got back from a trip to Montana to see my first niece graduate high school.  Yes... I'm a proud uncle.  cooldude

While there, I was "forced"  Evil  to steal my sister's bike (V-Star 900) and roll out with brother-in-law (on a Kawasaki Vulcan 1700) for a little trip to Rushmore the next state over.  And wouldn't you know it, but Devil's Tower was only a few minutes detour!  Well I can't just let that slip by without stopping.

Boy... life can be difficult at times...  Cheesy

Was a bit chilly for one of those days, and lots of rain... Which was rough enough in itself.  But hitting hail at 70+ mph... well... that is just plain PAINFUL!!!!!!!!!  Shocked

Luckily for us, it was only pellet sized (slightly bigger than BB's), so only whelps developed... no blood shed or broken body parts.

Of course we pulled over and suited up the full-on winter gear for more padding.  Of course, by the time we started moving again, the hail stopped.  Grin

For those that have never had the pleasure or riding through hail... I do NOT recommend it!!!! (Though it does make for a good story...)

The price of adventure can be pretty steep sometimes! Hope your next one is a little less 'painful'...

Those are some of the times we're pleased to be riders that have chosen to wear a hat.

There was another time ...

I guess in truth the value of pain is comparative in nature.    Wink

Better to be judged by 12, then carried by 6.

Been thru a lot of SD hail storms. Most of the time I had places to hide out.

Few yrs ago at the rally I was heading into town to get groceries. On I-90 saw a lot of cars and bikes pulled off. I called them p-----s for stopping when its only a little rain. I was still riding in bright sun but knew I was soon to hit the rain as black as it was ahead. It wasn't rain, just nickel size hail. Pulled over and put the half cover on the bike and a sock cap on my head. Hailed for 5 min or so. It was funny watching bikers crawl into backs of trucks with toppers on.  Grin

Never had the pleasuer of hail to any degree, maybe heavy sleet but no pea sized hail, but sometimes those heavy downpours sure felt like hail.

Luckily,  a windshield is a must doing 60 mph in that crap and head down low (if can see the road thru the shield).
