This is likely to sound like a strange question, but I'm new to Valkyries and trying to figure out the exact differences between the 1998 GL1500 (F6C?) and Tourer. I realize the "Tourer" model has a windshield and hard saddlebags, but are there any other differences or markings that would distinguish one model from the other? If, for example, I take a 1998 Tourer model and remove the windshield and saddlebags would I then have a GL1500 or would I have a stripped down Tourer? Are there any other features of the "Tourer" such as insignias or decals that would distinguish it from a F6C? Similarly, if I add a "Tourer" windshield and saddlebags to a GL1500 would it then be the same as a Tourer? Any information is appreciated. Thanks.

VIN should signify which model it actually is, regardless what the previous folks may have configured it to be.  http://www.valkyrienorway.com/VIN%20NUMBERS.html

The little reflector on your saddlebag is stuck to the fender
on a Standard...

Here's why I ask: I recently purchased a 98 Valkyrie F6C that I'm very happy with.  However, I'm starting to wonder if it was really a "Tourer" that was relieved of it's windshield and saddlebags by a previous owner. There's no markings anywhere on the bike (that I can locate) to indicate if it was a Tourer.

Just like mentioned above reflector on the side of rear fender=standard. Also oem colors other than black would be tale tell for quick ID.

locate the VIN tag on the neck of the bike. I believe a standard will be GL1500c or cd after 2001. A Tourer will e GL1500ct and an Interstate will be GL1500cf.

I located the VIN tag and found the answer. It's a GL1500C (standard). Thank you all for the assistance.
