Do Your Best and Miss the Rest!

Yorkville, Illinois

« on: June 19, 2016, 05:05:13 AM »

I had the Honor, and I do mean HONOR to spend yesterday with Dennis(old2soon) and Ross(da prez)
at the Illinois Motorcycle Freedom Run. We were joined for breakfast by Tom(tkylli), who then continued on homeward to Colorado from Inzane. Left to right in the photo--old2soon, wiggydotcom, tkylli, and da prez

After breakfast we staged at the Grundy county fairgrounds and mingled with the many, many thousands who attended the event that was created to honor our Veterans, including those who paid the ultimate sacrifice and their families--the Gold Star families. Governor Bruce Rauner was in attendance and gave a short speech. He's an avid motorcyclist himself.

There was a flyby done by the local farmers that kicked off the event.

We then went on a loop through the countryside as we wound our way to Marseilles, IL. Photo Courtesy of Illinois Freedom Run website. There were many wet eyes as we rode through the countryside and into town while being greeted by the flag waving locals who were out in force on their lawns. It gave me goosebumps on many occasions.

The Middle East Conflict Wall we went to is in Marseilles, Illinois and is the first of it's kind to be built while a conflict was still ongoing. The Wall---photo courtesy of IFR website.

It was the most bikes I've ever been around in one gathering. Da prez estimated them to be in the 3000 or so range.  One in particular caught our eye...how could it not have.

More images taken at the Memorial including a Can Am Spyder that has a very beautiful paint theme telling the story about those who've served and sacrificed.

I thank old2soon and da prez for inviting me to take part in this most humbling experience. And I thank all the Vets in the VRCC for their Service and Sacrifice. God Bless!

Lol, not too much, Rob. Old2soon always says I'm there to keep them honest. I DO owe them a meal though and will keep my word on that!

I met oldschool and daprez a couple of years at the Freedom run. They bought raffle tickets on our Rolling Thunder bike raffle.

Our chapter is there every year, always right in front on the bowling alley.
