I purchased this Interstate about a year ago and I have noticed that the bike sits too erect when the kickstand is down. Its a stock kickstand but the bike doesn't lean over enough. I have looked and I do not see an adjustment. Any suggestions? Can I heat up the kickstand and bend it another inch or so? I am a retired Police Officer and I use it on funeral escorts in Florida. If there is any kind of incline like parking on the crown of the roadway it will fall over to the right if you aren't holding onto the bike.

Did you look at the frame sometimes it gets bent ? Running over a curb or a hard headed dog.

I also have an interstate but, mine leans plenty far.  Mine's a 1999 model.  This is a valid concern.  I was on a PGR mission in strong gusting winds.  A guys 1800 Goldwing was blown over and knocked over three new Harleys...very expensive.  Retired police here as well.

If the frame is bent at the kickstand mount some have used washers to get the correct lean. Do you have OEM shocks and OEM tire size ? If they are shorter shocks and smaller diameter tire that could be the problem.

yeah, assuming they haven't shimmed the kickstand underneath where it mounts to the frame, you need to verify that your shocks are not the shorter ones and if everything else is stock. If everything is stock and the kickstand mounting bracket isn't shimmed, then the bike should lean over almost 20 degrees on a flat surface (my bike actually leans 24 degrees, and it always has).  the only other thing I can think of is that somebody may have intentionally changed the angle of your side stand so that it doesn't lean as much.

and check if a non-standard smaller diameter tire is also installed.

I removed the stand, cut an inch of the middle of the stand, and welded it back together, worked great.  Hoser

I have an extra kickstand I'll send you if you will message me your address.  You can try it and see if it helps you.  First, I'd try some of the suggestions listed above.  Usually, the complaint is that the bike leans over too far.  Let me know if I can help...Jim (PharmBoy)

Some (all?) permanently mounted jack adapters also act as a shim.

Most I've seen have a significant lean on the stand.  The only ones that seemed to be a bit too upright were those lowered or that had the bent cross member underneath I think.

I have the permanent jack adapter which is placed between the frame and the kickstand, acting as a shim of sorts.  And, I also have a taller tire (ATT), and I still have a significant lean and watch how/where I park because of it.

My 99' IS has too much of a lean, and there is already a "hockey puck" mounted on the stands foot, AND I have a 205/55 car tire one, which should make the bike stand more upright.

What is going to happen when I change the CT to a 205/65? It will look like it's laying on the ground.

Also have Progressive shocks, but haven't measure their height yet.
