I believe this is an activist court

Thomas had asked the attorney defending the conviction of the two men whether any other misdemeanor conviction could cause a defendant the loss of "a constitutional right." Thomas has been known as a staunch defender of the Second Amendment guarantee of a right "to keep and bear arms."

We have four SCOTUS members who believe that the Constitution is a "Living Document"

That's why the election for president is so important.

If a domestic abuser is convicted of a felony, he/she already loses the right to own or live with a firearm in the house.

But this ruling expands it to a misdemeanor conviction as well...

Get an over-zealous prosecutor going after you for spanking your kid...
...lost your gun rights for life...

That is a problem.

Just like the no due process, no appeal, no fly list, there might be the occasional misdemeanor (domestic) assault, which when coupled with other behavior, record, and evidence might warrant treating the offender as if he was a felon visa vi firearms.  But no misdemeanor assault (domestic or otherwise) should automatically earn you a lifetime firearm ban.  Remember, a misdemeanor assault only takes a shove or a hand to the chest, or knocking someone's hat off.

And while we're at it, how is pushing your wife into a chair (a domestic assault) worse than beating another fellow citizen to a bloody pulp and then getting a plea deal to misdemeanor simple assault?   Blanket rules, outside of felony convictions, should never be the basis for lifetime firearms bans.  It should have to be added as an additional charge to the misdemeanor domestic assault, with full due process rights to a hearing/trial, representation, cross examination, and a jury of your peers.

I am not a fan of true wife and kid beaters, but if the state/police/prosecutor only thinks your behavior warrants a misdemeanor charge to begin with, how bad was that behavior, in fact?  (especially a first offense for someone with an otherwise spotless record)?

With a better than 50% divorce rate, domestic assault has become a sword in the hand of spouses, instead of a shield against criminal behavior (as all criminal laws are supposed to be).

The goal is to disarm the citizens.  Now, how to achieve that goal.  Make them believe that the gun has the ability to make the person become a murderer.  Any gun, big black ones for now, any person.  Doesn't matter who or what the person professes to follow or for whom or what he is killing for, anyone can be made a killer by possessing a gun.  So, how do you stop people from becoming killers, stop them from being able to acquire guns.
