According to one commander, the report states, as forces prepared to deploy, "during the course of three hours, he and his Marines changed in and out of their uniforms four times."
From the 800-page House Select Committee on Benghazi report.
Are you kidding? Their were worried about the uniforms? Diplomatic sensitivities trumped and delayed the military actions.
Even if they could not respond in time to save the Ambassador and other personnel, they delayed the rescue to worry about this.
Previous accounts blamed the "tyranny of time and distance" plus the failure to have airplanes ready for the significant delay in moving military assets. But the report states conflicting orders from State Department and Pentagon officials over whether Marines should wear military uniforms or civilian attire also played a role.
In a newly revealed two-hour secure video conference on the night of the attacks led by White House Chief of Staff Denis McDonough and attended by Clinton and others, State Department officials raised concerns about the diplomatic sensitivities of the attire to be worn by assets launched.
In an interview with the Committee, Patrick Kennedy, the under secretary or Management at State, described the department's sensitivity as wanting to "make sure that the steps we were taking would enhance the security of our personnel, not potentially diminish the security of our personnel."
Then they (Obama & Clinton) back stabbed Moammar Khaddafy's regime, who, granted, was no angel, but he did save 35 Americans.
No wonder we are so disliked in that area of the world.

Saw that report this morning. My only comment is this. If Clinton has anything to do with it, someone is either going to die, go to jail or, get very rich and covering her ass. Some say it's just smoke and mirrors the "other side" is spewing. Personally, I believe that if there's smoke, there is a fire.

I found it incredulous that there were 3 separate report presented. The official one which did not necessarily attach blame and was released today. The one from conservative members of the committee that predictably lambasts her also released today. And yesterday the democratic members of the committee released their version essentially excusing her. Politics anyone?

What should be disturbing to us even today is that the report and even the event is still a political football. The Democratic members of the committee have and will continue to push back because of the conclusions that can be drawn from the report. It is natural to want to protect their positions but when they offer no rebuttal of the facts presented their "outrage" is pretty hollow. As I understand it from watching the news conference held by the Republican members, they ask the American public to read the report and draw their own conclusions. If there are facts to be refuted, I am sure they will be, loud and clear. If not we will only hear the chirping of the crickets.
We should all be outraged with the handling of this crisis whether liberal or conservative. I doubt anyone who examined the blood spilled that day would be able to tell whether it's owner was left or right of center. It just so happens that this crisis fell in the hands of our current president and a potential new president. With the title of President also comes the position of Commander-in- Chief. In this instance we have a clear picture, I believe, of what we could expect front a Clinton presidency.

Diplomatic sensitives can suck my butt.
When you have to send operators through hostile territory, they need to blend in, not go in dress blues with targets on their back.
I had blanket orders for travel throughout Europe/Turkey in mufti (civvies), and I was a freekin' JAG (chairborne), not an operator. (I was in charge of my own 2-man office, so I gave myself permission)

And ALL of those reports were done without ANY of her emails concerning the subject! So, to me, NONE of the reports can be very accurate, because at the time, ALL of her emails were hidden. And, how many "bad" emails did she delete? Who knows. Hopefully the FBI can get the 30,000 deleted ones back.
They may prove her innocent. They may prove her guilt.
But, the simple fact she hid them, lied about them, and deleted 30,000 without an independent judge looking at them, sure has the perception of wrong doing. If you were doing no wrong, why hide and delete the evidence?

I watched most of Trey Gowdy and his committee this AM and liked what they had to say and conducted themselves. Professional. I also liked the additional info they came up with. But, of course, the admin is in the tank for clinton. I thought most of the questions they were asked were ridiculous and so did they but they answered responsibly.

The last thing I want to do is appear to get on the Bitch's (or her posse's) side.
But I would suggest to you that if the FBI wishes to interview you in a room with several people and recorders, even if you are as pure as the driven snow, you should think very carefully before each answer, and taking the fifth is much better than incriminating yourself. Actually, your best move is to politely decline the interview. People get overcome with curiosity so accept, to find out what they know. Curiosity does indeed kill the cat.
They are smarter than you, and have a sh!t load more experience than you.
I represented a pile of people who made statements to police and prosecutors before I ever came into the picture. When asked if I could get them off, my reply was often..... Hey, I'm a good lawyer, but I'm not Harry Foking Houdini. Most failed to see the humor. Most took the best deal I could get them. YMMV

Not literally, he just pulled in all the political favors he, his family and friends could find to keep his precious self out of Vietnam, but he didn't literally burn his draft card. http://www.snopes.com/politics/clintons/felon.asp(I feel sick pointing this out, but doing everything a person could to avoid the draft without burning a draft card wasn't that uncommon, sadly, by folks who ended up on both sides of the aisle later in life.)

The founders saw fit to cause the presidency to be an elected office not promoted from or limited by military rank and experience. I think that's a good thing. It establishes that the government and people own the military and not the other way around. That being said I don't like to vote for an executive branch candidate who does not have the experience of having served the country in the military. I'm even a bit bothered by only Air Force experience.

And that would indeed be a joke worth the fantastical improvisation. Marines are incredibly cheap. They originally were formed because sailors needed someone to fight for them. They continue to exists because they kill more enemy for fewer dollars than any of the other armed forces. I don't think we've ever had a Marine rise to the level of primary executive. That would be interesting, wouldn't it?

In fairness I don't that's proof of spinelessness. She made an active decision long ago that dealing with the behavior of her "husband" was not to her more important than advancing her own climb up the ladder. He was her ladder. I think Hillary Clinton has plenty of spine. It's not her spine I have an issue with. It's her values and the person she has chosen to be that I find unacceptable.

A young Arkie goes off to college. Half way through the semester, having foolishly squandered all of his money on his girlfriend, he calls home.
"Dad," he says, "You won't believe what modern education is developing! They actually have a program here at Hendrix that will teach our dog, Ole' Blue how to talk!"
"That's amazing," his Dad says. "How do I get Ole’ Blue in that program?"
"Just send him over here with $1,000" the young Arkie says "and I'll get him in the course."
So, his Father sends the dog and $1,000.
About two-thirds of the way through the semester, the money again runs out. The boy calls home.
"So how's Ole' Blue doing son?" his Father asks.
"Awesome, Dad, he's talking up a storm," he says, "but you just won't believe this -- they've had such good results they have started to teach the animals how to read!"
"Read!?" says his Father, "No kidding! How do we get Blue in that program?"
"Just send $2,500, I'll get him in the class."
The money promptly arrives. The Arkie and his girlfriend are able to buy enough marijuana to last the whole semester. But our hero has a problem. At the end of the year, his Father will find out the dog can neither talk, nor read. Even though he was always pretty much able to lie his way out of trouble, the Arkie asked his girlfriend to help him think of a really good lie to tell his Dad. She very quickly came up with a plan for him as she was a pro at lying.
So she has him shoot the dog.
When he arrives home at the end of the year, his Father is all excited.
"Where's Ole' Blue? I just can't wait to see him read something and talk!"
"Dad," the boy says, "I have some grim news. Yesterday morning, just before we left to drive home, Ole' Blue was in the living room, kicked back in the recliner, reading the Wall Street Journal, like he usually does".
"Then Ole' Blue turned to me and asked, so, is your Daddy still messing around with that little redhead who lives down the street?"
The Father went white and exclaimed, "I hope you shot that lying dog before he talks to your Mother!"
"I sure did, Dad!"
"That's my boy!"
The kid married his girlfriend, they both went on to law school in Fayetteville, he became Governor of Arkansas and President of the United States, and you already know what a liar his girlfriend turned out to be!
