Hey yall.

Im out on the road at Crossville Tn tonight. Refilled at Mount Juliet tn and keeping a eye on coolant level.
I also am towing a trailer.

Had inner fairing apart for a windshield replacement yesterday.
Took off this afternoon and had a boilover in gridlock traffic at nashville.

Hoping i may have unhooked a wire messing with speaker pods.
Water pump runs. Fan Fuse good.  Fan was working two days ago.

Which side are fan wires in fairing.
All else fails i will hotwire the fan

Take the wire off the temp sending unit, and ground it with the ignition on. That should ground the rad fans, and fire them up.

If that doesn't work, then get back and post.

How did you check the fuse? Swap it out with another known working one, or use a test meter.

I'm here in Crossville, if there is something I can do to help let me know. Just saw this, I could have at least put you up.

This might help you:

That being said, I don't think this is a quick job (replacing the fan motor), plus you got to order a new fan motor and that might take a few days.

I was able to run the bike for 2 years with it broken. Basically, if you keep the bike moving it won't over heat.

Plus, *before* overheating, the warning light was supposed to turn on. That is a hint to stop and wait 10-15 minutes for the bike to cool down a bit.

When you make it back home, I recommend getting one of those oil dip stick with a thermometer and maybe install a water temperature gauge? Check:

I broke down on a 1977 GL1000 many years ago..fan wasn't working.  I wired in a single throw switch out in walmart parking lot and rode it like that till the day I sold it.
