I was going to call this " InZane 2016 / Tour De Yankee " I even called Bruce ( DDT ) and got his permission which he graciously gave however after thinking it over the " Tour De " is his gig and it should remain that way . First off the folks that rode into Knoxville , Tennessee to ride up through the woods with us " Thank You " <---Awesome group of folks . A shout out to Ronnie ( Wolf ) and Dewayne from Lewisburg , West Virginia for taking us on a great ride through the woods of WV to ground zero <--- Two good one's here . Riding around at InZane I took several great rides with Steve ( Rainman ) Eric ( Little Buddy ) and Preston ( Reb ) thanks men for letting me tag along . The first ride I took was to Flight 93 National Memorial ( this was my second time here ) . If you can go to this place and not have emotional reaction and become angry at the same time in my opinion you have no right to call yourself a American . United Airlines Flight 93 was a domestic scheduled passenger flight that was hijacked by four Al-Qaeda terrorists on board, as part of the September 11 attacks. It crashed into a field near the Diamond T. Mine in Stonycreek Township, Somerset County, Pennsylvania, near Indian Lake and Shanksville, during an attempt by some of the passengers to regain control, killing all 44 people aboard including the four hijackers. No one on the ground was injured. At 10:03:11, near Indian Lake and Shanksville, Pennsylvania, the plane crashed into a field near a reclaimed coal strip mine known as the Diamond T. Mine owned by PBS Coals in Stonycreek Township in Somerset County .The National Transportation Safety Board reported that the flight impacted at 563 mph at a 40-degree nose-down, inverted attitude. The impact left a crater eight to ten feet deep and 30 to 50 feet wide . All 44 people on board died. The Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum this was a cool place to check out . The Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum, subsequently the Weston State Hospital, was a Kirkbride psychiatric hospital that operated from 1864 until 1994 by the government of the U.S. state of West Virginia, in the city of Weston. Built by architect Richard Andrews, it was constructed from 1858-1881. Originally designed to hold 250 people, it became overcrowded in the 1950s with 2,400 patients. It was forcibly closed in 1994 due to changes in treatments of patients. The hospital was bought by Joe Jordan in 2007, and partly opened to tours and other money raising events for its restoration. The hospital's main building is one of the largest hand-cut stone masonry buildings in the United States, and, is the second largest hand-cut sandstone building in the World, with the only bigger one being The Kremlin. After InZane six of us took another week to ride north (Paul ( Wimp ) Keith ( threevalks ) Allan ( Punisher ) Mitch ( Mitcho ) and Robin through Pennsylvania , New York ,Vermont , New Hampshire , Connecticut and Maine . We saw some beautiful country and Punisher had planned out a awesome ride keeping us away from any large towns and super slabs . My only bitch about this entire ride was the condition of many of the roads we was on they was so busted up and full of potholes it took away a lot of the joy of doing such a ride . You would think with the high taxes and EVERYTHING that's worth seeing someone is standing there with their hand out wanting money they could fix the roads. We was on one road in Vermont or New Hampshire and no crap they took the whole road only leaving two deep truck tracks full of holes to follow. The ride up to Mount Washington in the White Mountains will be one I'll never forget. Mount Washington, called Agiocochook by some Native American tribes, is the highest peak in the Northeastern United States at 6,288 ft and the most prominent mountain east of the Mississippi River. The mountain is notorious for its erratic weather. On the afternoon of April 12, 1934, the Mount Washington Observatory recorded a windspeed of 231 miles per hour at the summit, the world record for most of the 20th century, and still a record for measured wind speeds not involved with a tropical cyclone. Pretty sure this picture was taken in Vermont this was a nice ride through the mountains I bet this place is outstanding in the fall. Acadia National Park is a national park located in the state of Maine. It reserves much of Mount Desert Island, and associated smaller islands, off the Atlantic coast. Initially created as the Sieur de Monts National Monument in 1916, the park was renamed Lafayette National Park in 1919, and was given its current name of Acadia in 1929. It is the oldest American national park east of the Mississippi River. " The Money Shot(s) " Not sure what little town we was in on the Lighthouse somewhere in New York the other was taken at Bar Harbor , Maine. Looking forward to InZane 2017 ... Special thanks to the VRCC staff for helping keep the Valkyrie alive .... Long Live The Dragon .

I noticed the same thing on some of the roads travelled while in WV. Ravages of winter and the big trucks. Patches upon patches. The cool thing was that there were enough amazing sights and sounds and smells and cool air and clear skies and good riding and good interaction between riders and good parking lot shenanigans, etc etc. to overcome this.

I am with you about the roads, my brother in law lives in Maine on 80 very pretty acres. The coast of Maine is just great. I was told the reason for the roads being that way is to keep out anybody but the locals. It was great seeing everyone again and just love riding in good ol West Va. Love you guys shortleg

Thanks for the comments No doubt I saw things I may never see again and some beautiful country ... Big D everyone was pretty nice to us it may have helped we had two Yankees in the group Biggest disappointment was Niagara Falls they are doing a " RECONSTRUCTION " and had all the best views blocked with a bigass fence and heavy equipment everywhere.

Hi Joe. My wife and I live in NH. We rode down for our first INZANE and had great time. I have lived here since 85 and wife was born here. I have yet been up to the top of that mountain. We like riding up to Maine. One of the problems with VT roads is that not to long ago they had some really heavy rain storms and a lot of the roads were washed out. We had some in the northern part of the state. My wife's sister lives in E. Tennessee. Close to Johnson City. If you ever get back up this way give us a shout. My wifes name is on here as she was looking for a balk for me that's why it says banners

Great report Mt Washington is an amazing place. Did you see the chains they got holding the buildings down? Went they one day and it was 95 degrees at the base. Got to the top and it was low 60's with 30 mph winds. Every one in shorts and t-shirts, not good. They got a list of the people that have perished up there due to the extreme weather, some only 100 yards from the buildings. The winters are tough up in Northern NE and the roads show it.

We went up one day in Sept a couple of years ago. It was 60 at the base, bright and sunny. The ride up was perfect, no cars in front until about 1000' from the top, then BAM. Almost solid cloud. We made our way up to the observatory and literally couldn't see any buildings until you were 10' away. Incredible views when it was clear...
