Yeah, she was wrong but he wasn't doing defensive riding.  Just let her in and shrug it off.  Too many dumbarses out there to risk your butt.  If you get in an argument with a cage, you'll lose.

He set himself and her up as well

Sorry, I do a LOT of city driving daily and IMHO

You NEVER NEVER NEVER ride next to someone like that when you know there is a merge coming up
you can pull ahead or drop behind

I would not ride with that fellow, the only thing he did right was have a dash cam and find the cop

I never heard of the zipper merge method but I like it. The outcome was great but he should have yielded to avoid road rage possibility. BTW: When you open carry, this doesn't happen. Don't ask me how I know.

If he keeps doing that, he'll have a nice video to watch while he recovers in the hospital, knowing he was "right".

If me, I'd have dropped back and let the impatient lady in.  I'd rather do that than have her on my butt, pissed off and tailgating.

After seeing the video the LEO shoulda pepper sprayed the guy on the bike for being a plonker and told that lady to be more considerate to other road users.

There was no rage, he was as polite as could be expected, she was wrong.

But if I did that every time it happened to me, I would never get out of the city limits before the sun went down.

Unless I was on a commission for a piece of the fines from the PD, I'd rather not.

Now I have had real serious murderous driving stuff where I would take the time, if I had a cop right there.  But that was easy to avoid, and a footnote in my memory in three minutes.

Trying to educate and improve the driving skills of the population of poor woman drivers, one by one, while noble in purpose, would seem to be a rather large undertaking.  Don Quixote comes to mind.

The only victim in the video is the poor cop who had to deal with two idiots.  The motorcyclist should have just let her merge in front.  I'd rather have an idiot in front of me than behind me.

Being "right" can be costly and as demonstrated, make you look like a total ass. Bad video for all cyclists.

The motorcyclist is a complete idiot.  He was in no danger whatsoever of getting hit or run off the road until he sped up to get beside her.  Why not just let her in?  This happens all the time when I'm in my cage trying to merge.  Some asshat thinks he has to speed up because it is his place in line and he doesn't want me in his spot.  A lot of stupid testosterone out there to cause such a fuss over something so little.

Guy on the cycle is an idiot and some day he is going to pick on the wrong guy.

First off, I saw no "Merge" signs. The gal driving the car was behind the truck and could not possibly see that the lanes merged ahead.  All she knows is there is a dickhead next to her honking his horn and being an ass.

Second, it is pretty clear to me the guy was setting this up for his video. He could have sped up and pulled in behind the truck, he could have sped up a little and pulled ahead of the truck, could have slowed down and let the car ahead. Nope, he just keeps pace with her till there is nowhere for her to go.

In fact, he is on her rear quarter then pulls up next to her.

I hope he showed the video to the police and they cited his ass big time.

Got zero problem with people merging in front of me EXCEPT when they wait til the last second to do so and damn well know the lane is ending. Appears to be the case here.

I could be wrong, but the cop has no other choice but to warn them both to be considerate next time.  Neither was right or wrong since pretty much side by side one should speed up and one slow down.  I choose normally if in a faster mood to speed up in front of them since normally I will be driving faster than them anyways vs. being slower behind them and then passing them later on.

Yeah technically the driver was very wrong! Not that the rider was much better but it was his lane and she didn't give two craps and was gonna take his spot. Going back to my earlier statement she knew damn well the lane was ending but chose to wait until the last instant to merge. How stupid is that?

I see this all the time.  There's signs that the right lane ends.  You can see up ahead if you bother to look that the right lane ends and some drivers will stay in that right lane until forced to move left.  It's like they don't believe that the right lane will really end.
