Thinking of buying a 2002 Tourer

I had a 2001 Interstate I bought new. Fantastic ride.
Sold it a couple of years ago. Mistake!
I am going to look at what the seller claims is a 2002 model.
Question where Tourers made in 2002? I'll know when I check the
vin plate on the bike.
It has 22000 Km (Apprx. 12000 miles).
I'll check the gas tank for rust.
I have a list of what to look at and go for a test ride.
Any suggestions?

I believe that 2000 was the last year for the Tourer.  Although, in 2002 you could still get the parts from Honda to convert a Standard into a Tourer. Sounds like you know what to look for.

At least if you show him it being probably a 2000 model year vs. a 2002 tourer,  you might get 1 grand more off their asking price being 2 years older maybe?   

Good luck,  I went to a farm auction a few years ago hoping to pick up a neglected, somewhat rusted, needing new tires/fluids, etc.,  2000 tourer I think was maroon red/cream with under 20K miles and not sure I could have removed all that rust all over, but was going to go 3500 top end.  It sold for 4400, near full retail the way the bike was conditioned NO way worth over 4K.  You just never know at an auction I guess?  Too bad it was one of the last items to sell wasting my entire day there for nothing.

look at the VIN on the neck to see what year it really is.
  And dise the Vin have CT anyplace on it, that would make it a tourer
from the factory. But like has been said none after 2000
