The good news is that we have almost an entire year to plan around specific dates.

OK, the written word is usually difficult to interpret as it may have been intended.   Please don't think I am being critical in what I'm about to say.   I simply don't see how one can plan anything based on what is known.

I smiled reading the quoted post above.   Yep, I can plan on an event somewhere west of the Mississippi River in mid to late June next year (I think).   Could be one day of travel or three (one way).   Might be able to travel through numerous states I've wanted to visit or not, might cost this much for food, fuel and hotels along the route or not.   I might even be able to visit certain people along the still unplanned route or meet up with other riders on that still unplanned route who are also in the dark about the city Ground Zero is located in or near.    Based on what is known I need to plan how much vacation, how much money?

Please don't take this as a personal attack, it is not meant that way.   What I can plan is to have a good time with friends if, the location is somewhere I can get to and that's about all.

Seriously, the general location (as in a specific city or near a specific city, national forest or site) should be announced as soon as possible (regardless of where it is).   How is one to plan anything without knowing a general destination?   Just my opinion, I know it doesn't count for squat.   I realize the reasons for keeping the GZ hotel quiet until the right time.

We do announce it as soon as we possibly can.  There are many things that go in to the planning and the selection of a location.  We are still in that process.  We are negotiating and working with a few different locations at this time.  With all of the planning and work that goes in to Inzane each year, it does make it difficult to even begin working on the particulars for the next year until the current year's event has passed.  We are working on getting the best location with the best prices and greatest benefit to our members.

Thank you for your patience, and we will get the info out as soon as we can, but it may still be a month or two.  Just bear with us, please. :)

I know that some people want to know the exact location, however I don't see that as needed at this point. but a general area (circle, triangle, etc of large dimensions -not too large, state, three states) would most certainly assist with many folks planning. The general location heavily influences how much time and money needs to be set aside for it. "North of NM, south of Canada, West of Iowa, East of Oregon" type stuff would be helpful as would "within a 350 mile radius of Four Corners" type stuff.
I know your job is hard and thankless (well, mostly thankless) and I appreciate your efforts.

My better half just "gently" reminded me that our oldest daughter will be getting married July 3rd next year so I am out of Inzane for 2017

Eric I appreciated the kind offer but for me the ride there and back home is a large part of the Inzane magic

As Lori and I both stated, we are still in the discussion phase with possible venues that are both big enough and are willing to give us reasonable rates.

I know this is going to bite me in the butt.  However, if it will appease the masses, I'll give it a shot.  We have been concentrating our efforts within a 350 mile radius of Yellowstone N.P.   Yellowstone, itself, would be a bit too spendy.

Please bear in mind this is absolutely no guarantee, but we do have several possibilities within this radius.

Now that is awesome, we have 3/4 of our route already mapped out then, Petra had been working on a ride out that direction for next year or so  :cooldude: that works out perfect no matter where exactly Inzane will be.  :D

The VRCC just made our day (myself and JoJo). 2017 is our 20 year anniversary and we were just talking about an "epic ride" next summer.

Have always wanted to do the west coast, so now Inzane 17 will be part of that epic ride.

Will now plan to trailer out to a central location out west (maybe Colorado) and park the truck and trailer for 3 weeks or so.... ride to Inzane 17 and after, spend 2+ weeks meandering.

Better start saving some $$$ for it.
You are more than welcome to park at my place. We will put you up and feed you as well. Congrats on the 20.  :cooldude:

That is a very nice offer Misfit, and we just might take you up on that.

Fiiiiiiine, here's a new version calculated based on how far one can ride on public roads in 350 miles from Yellowstone National Park... ;)

And this tool I found is so cool, I'm gonna go ahead and share it - You can put in an address and how many miles OR hours at a certain speed you wanna go, it'll calculate how far you can get in any direction from that point. Very cool!

Very Cool Indeed!   :cooldude:

Is there a way to tell it "Posted Speed Limits"?

Telling the app 50 mph (as an example) doesn't really give an accurate estimate.   Yeah, I know it's still just an estimate.    If it does, I couldn't find it.

Personally I think it is awesome that Inzane moves west again.
...
I see a lot of folk already saying "count me out" ... and I can understand that many from east of the mighty Mississippi will not make it, however it will be nice for the western folk to get an opportunity to attend Inzane without the hardship of traveling 1500 miles to get there, so I say support the ones that will be able to make it.
...

That's good perspective, Ice.

We have held InZane thrice west of the Missippi, twice in Colorado and once in Spearfish, South Dakota.  People from the west travel many miles to attend InZane in the east.  This year we had a handful that rode about 2400 miles to InZane and our friends from Texas were some 1300 miles away.

Next year's location will likely cause people from Virginia to require a 2,000 mile ride and the folks from Texas up to 1600 miles while only  reducing our California friends to a little under a thousand miles.

InZane XVII is going to be a good time in a great place.

I can not believe no one else caught Willow in a mistake, but isn't Eureka Springs Arkansas west if the Mississippi and doesn't Mississippi have 4 s's.  Just messin with ya Willow, we hope to make Inzane next year.

Now, what do we need to do to help cure your InZanepenia?  What's the major hold up?

* From f6gal's dictionary of InZane terminology:
In·Zan·e·pe·ni·a (/inˈzānəˈpēnēə) noun: Lack of attendance at any InZane event.

The latest hint seems to leave out Kalispell, MT and Glacier Nat'l. Park. Especially the Park due to snow still present in the upper reaches which means the main road through it would still be closed. We went through there 22 yrs. ago on our honeymoon the first week of July and it had just opened. Still had a lot of snow and we got caught in a snow & sleet storm going down the east side, something you don't really want on a bike. Idaho would be nice, great scenery, not sure I could get the help needed for an extended period so I could attend. Will depend on a few things; someone to stay with my wife for at least 3 wks., money(as always), my health. I still love the excitement around the whole project, reading the planning of others, I sit down every year and plan out an itinerary even if I know I can't attend. I'd love to be able to load up and head out, maybe hook up with others along the way. Time will tell, in years past we have traveled much of the area described in the circle posted by Serk. But, the pic below is my first(and only) real concern. I'm doing a good job of helping her stand.....the love of my life.  :cooldude:

I can understand your confusion.

The Missippi is a small river that runs into the Arkansas in the eastern portion of the state of Oklahoma.  People outside of that local area rarely refer to the Missippi although its critical location is indeed instrumental for many planning endeavors.

I hope to still be alive for InZane next year.

I rode through Kalispell and Glacier on my ride to Morgantown last month, weather and roads were excellent. Going to the Sun road was closed when I went through (June 6) and then was open when I went through again on my way back home (June 22). Have ridden that route many times in the past 10 years or so .... really depends on the year with respect to weather...it can be quite different one year to the next. That area is however, one of our favorite riding destinations....beautiful! So is Northern Idaho :cooldude:

This year it opened June 17.
Latest recent opening, July 13, 2011
Earliest recent opening, May 16, 1987
Typically opens end of May to beginning of July.

The dates of some of the road openings was one factor in determining our date change to last week of June.  According to the "locals" they are usually open by that time.  And knowing the VRCC luck with weather, there will likely be an unprecedented heat spell that week.

Dang.  My home is in the larger circle!  Barely.

Oh, did we forget to tell you it's at your house?
Is that why the negotiations are taking up to 30 more days ?  ;)

Yep, we're trying to get him to move his house into the "InZane 2017 Serkle" (the smaller circle).
