Great movie. I watched it 3 times. Just wanted to share. It can be found on Netflix if you have it. Or buy. It's worth it.

Great soundtrack too.

I have different thoughts about a dude that got himself in that situation without knowing what the hell he was doing. We have lots of people come to Alaska with these naive ideas of living off the land only to put themselves in danger and others trying to rescue them. Just happened again last week.

That's how it should be understood. It's good to have freewill. But know your limits.

Exactly. There was a guy last week that bought some property out in the middle of the Kuskokwim Delta. Hundreds of miles from any kind of civilization. Dropped off by float plane with minimal supplies, minimal gear. Thought he would just go out there and build a cabin and live this idealic lifestyle . No experience whatsoever, just graduated college in some big city. Lasted a couple weeks and almost killed himself trying to get out by a little raft.
Living in the wilds of Alaska is freaking hard for people with tons of experience. Cheechackos with no experience don't stand a chance.

Living in the wilds off the land/water anywhere would be difficult and dangerous.   While I'd prefer Alaska over the swamps of the South East US, either one would no doubt end with me being an appetizer for something bigger and badder than me.

Cheechaskos, anything to do with Cheech of that comedy team?

We used to get a bunch of them. Mostly the "Sourdoughs" up there would just shake their heads and laugh at them. But during the "Pipeline Days" we would get gobs of them from Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma. And no disrespect to you folks from there. But a lot of them would like to tell us how things should be done. Construction, building, roadwork, etc. is done differently because of weather and permafrost . For years the most popular bumper sticker for Alaskans was "We don't give a F#*k how you do it in Texas"  2funny
