This new craze of Pokémon Go sure seems fun, my wife and kids are playing and they seem to be enjoying themselves. As always with anything fun there is a safety issue especially for the kids.
This afternoon my wife and I had to go out, before we left the neighborhood Barb asked me to swing by the playground because there was a Pokémon there she wanted to capture or whatever it is they do. We pull up to the entrance of the park (in my E150 van) and as she is collecting her "prizes" some boys roil up on their bikes and as if we are doing Pokémon and my wife replies with a "yes" and the boys ask a couple questions which she answers. As were leaving, the one boy says to the other "I want to go with them, they're gonna get a bunch of stuff".
As we pulled away we each looked at each other in disbelief that these kids or at least the one even thought about going with strangers. I hope this "game" does not cause an abduction issue, I've already heard of robberies happening because bad people hang around hot spots.
Please talk to your kids and grandkids...nieces or nephews about "stranger danger" and not to be persuaded or coaxed to go with people in search of whatever it is Pokémon Go is all about.

I could be mistaken but, I was watching the evening news this afternoon and the reporter was talking about folks playing this game. It was being played in a cemetery and folks were shown walking on graves, stepping on and crawling up on headstones/markers/statues, etc.
Not 100% sure this was the same thing but, it wasn't going over well locally.

I almost ran over someone playing Pokemon. They walked out into the middle of the intersection going around in circles. The phone in their face not paying attention to where they are .

Maybe I'm just strange, but I prefer PokeWoman myself... And footage has been found of a group of Pokemon Go players looking for Pokemons...

Another reason my kids don't play video games. Go out and play, use your imagination. Climb a tree, go explore the creek, anything but staying cooped up in your room playing games. I think they will thank me for it when they get older.

In defense of Pokemon Go, that's kinda the idea of it, you can't just sit in your room and play it, you've gotta move about in meatspace to play this game... So in one fell swoop, Nintendo has managed to do more for getting people active than 7 years of Michelle Obama's preaching to us has!

On another note, did you see nintendo is coming back out with the NES mini? 30 built in games and able to connect a wii remote to it. I will own one, only 60 bucks. Those were the best games for raining days

Yup, I saw that, it's cute! But..... I've been much more tempted to build out a RetroPie box... http://lifehacker.com/how-to-turn-your-raspberry-pi-into-a-retro-game-console-498561192

maybe if you weren't so friendly with the kids and didn't drive a van that looked like this children wouldn't want you to abduct them I know (I'm guessing here) you were trying to make light of the subject, but this topic hits a little too close to home for me. You see, back when I was 15 we lost a girl from our neighborhood. Back then we were all pretty much tight knit, she was a friend, my brother hung out with her brother, we grew up together. In 1981 she was 17 and there was a maniac on the loose on the Jersey Shore, the news wasn't what it is today. At the time we were a small town still with a small but growing population. The killers name was Richard Biegwald. Her parents still live in the same house and about 5 doors down from me and not a day goes by that I have to drive past their house and think of my friend Maria and her family. http://www.nydailynews.com/news/crime/jersey-shore-thrill-killer-richard-biegenwald-accused-killing-early-80s-article-1.188112
