I first need to set the stage for the pics my daughter #2 sent me, they are of one of her granddaughters on her 2nd b'day. My daughter lives on the edge of town and the property behind her has some horses that are extremely friendly. One recently gave birth and I've rec'd. other pics of the kids petting it and other horses. Obviously the mama knows the kids and is OK with them being around. A few days ago it was the little grand daughter's 2nd b'day, name is Kinlee Jo....kinda cute. Her mom took the kids over to grandma's and since it was hot, decided to fill the little plastic wading pool for them. Only problem, my granddaughter said she forgot Kinlee's bathing suit. My daughter told her not to worry, it's out in the country and she's only two so let her go au naturel. As the kids were splashing in the pool, the adults turned their backs for a minute or so and when they looked back, Kinlee was nowhere to be found. They started hunting for her and found her about 30 yds. away, buck naked, petting the colt. My daughter has cut off the very bottom of her bottom, I've informed her I want the original so I can embarrass her when she gets older.  Evil  An additional note, grandma was holding her a couple weeks ago, she was eating a carrot and petting the mama horse. When Kinlee wasn't watching, mama gently reached over the fence and took the carrot with her lips, much to Kinlee's dismay.

The second picture is of the little tea party they set up for Kinlee as part of her b'day party. The white gloves, the hanky with flowers in each corner and the real silver bowl on the ground were my mother's when she was alive. They now belong to my daughter, Kinlee's grandmother. The tea service is only plastic, maybe a few more years before the real service is used. My mom would be Kinlee's great, great grandmother. Notice the pearls....you hardly ever see her without them. I even have a picture of her in the tub, covered in soap suds....and pearls.  Grin  I've never been able to get away to see her, also another one the same age in California....I may never get to see her. And also another little newborn just a few mo. old in central Illinois.

My daughter can be talking to me on the phone, sitting on her back porch with her morning coffee and reading the paper, and I'll suddenly hear some whinnying in the background. She tells me the horses see her out there and fuss until she gets a couple carrots for each one and goes over to mess with them. At times when she's not out there, they still come to the fence and carry on until she goes out to them with some goodies. When the kids come over, she tells me they come running and really fuss until they come and pay attention to them.

Thanks guys, that little gal is one of my eleven great grandchildren, her mom is one of 17 grandchildren. This one and her mother have the most intense blue eyes. The other thing that moves me with this little gal is she reminds me of my oldest daughter at the same age.

Wonderful photos John.  Thanks for sharing those.  I really like the one with the horses.  I believe the world would be a better place if we could all keep the innocence and wonderment of youth even as we grow older.

Yes, rather mind-boggling when I think of the numbers. When my oldest daughter succumbed to cancer in 2012, we had a gathering in a local restaurant. It's in a small farming town in Illinois and we had the entire place available but concentrated our group to the large banquet room. My former wife was there and was chatting with my current wife, Rita, when I asked her to look around the room and consider all that were there. I had counted nearly 30 in attendance and that wasn't everyone. I then reminded her that if we hadn't met by chance at a YWCA dance in Denver, this room would be empty. Right now, the total stands somewhere around 40 but since not all the grandkids are married yet the number will go up at time passes when you add in husbands/wives that join the fray. I guess the moral of the story for all the youngsters out there: Don't go to dances!  Grin
