What if any are the benefits of desomging your 1500 Valkyrie.

Gets rid of poor running/popping due to vacuum leaks.

Gets rid of all the crap on top of the motor for easier cleaning.

Gives you something to do in the winter.

Gives you some parts to put on the shelf.

Just did the desmog on my 1998 Tourer. Yeah. Eliminates any vacuum worries. Smoother idle in my case. Glad I finally did it. But. On another note.  It sit for 3 months. Now. She is getting horrible MPG. A burbling exhaust at low rpms in low gears. Guess I will have to remove carbs once more and thoroughly clean. Good Luck.

It's called Carb Cleaner! Try this 1st before removing carbs. Cheaper, faster and easier.

Berryman B-12, 1/2 can in 1/2 tank of gas. Run in the rpm range that is giving you trouble. Usually that means high gear, slow speed, so it gets into the slow jets.

You also might want to let the mixture sit in your carbs for a few days between rides.  Every other month or so I'll add a full can to a full tank on a day ride to empty it. Good luck!

I think so. Not much money and time is not bad either. Cleans up top of engine and almost all vacuum hoses.
