So, I got a speeding ticket and had the option of attend a 4 hr driving class to mitigate the impact of points against my license and my insurance. So the instructor goes around the room and asks us each what our ticket was for and most everyone was speeding with the exception of a few accidents...one kid hit a parked car while playing PokemonGo, which caused me to sort of blurt out that he just made my day and made the cost of entry almost worth it...

Gee, now it's Pokoman to be added to texting while driving, driving with a digit up one's rec***, eating and drinking coffee with both hands, "no clue" left turns in front of motorcycles, etc.

The odds are coming down. Roll Eyes

yah,  pokemon go caused a crash as well locally here, seems to be all over.

Interesting you can take a class to not get points off  your record as well as no insurance rate increase.   Never knew you could do that, then again, knock on wood,  I haven't gotten a speeding ticket ever.

One and only time I got pulled over was in my small town of 1100 and local anal cop stated I never fully stopped at our main drag stop sign rolling thru it 1-2 mph.  He let me off with a warning but after talking to the other folks in town,  he has done this to dozens of others as well.  I have rolled thru stop signs where my vehicle does not fully go backward momentum after full coming to a stop millions of times prior with no issues.  I bet most of us on our Valks at stop signs if clearly seeing NO traffic in all other directions never come to a complete stop and roll on thru 1-2 mph in 1st or 2nd gear never putting our feet down on the pavement.  Yes,  stop mean stop, but I am not doing a yield either since yield signs normally can roll on thru 3-6 mph no issues vs. my stops being 1-2 mph tops.

I got pulled over last year for not putting my feet down at a stop sign. I just stared at him, he said do you understand? Then I laughed amd asked to see the law about mandatory foot placement on pavement when stopped. He had nothing. I stopped completly for 4 or 5 seconds.iI think he got confused because normally one would put their feet down. Maybe it looked like I was still rolling? He then told me next time it would be a ticket. I asked what the infraction would be, again nothing, then told him I'd see him in court if that ever happened.

I happen to live in an area with a lot of wonderful scenic 2 lane highways thru wooded areas and river crossings and well tended fields and the wonderful aromas of Life therein. Fact Is I enjoyed some of those 2 lane wonders yesterday. Soooooooooooo some dildo in a cage playing a game around a blind curve MAY/MIGHT/COULD be the cause of my demise?? Course we all KNOW
"THEY" wouldn't be crammin a cheeseburger fries and a coke in their pie hole while playin this game AND attempting to drive-would they? RIGHT??  uglystupid2 RIDE SAFE.

During five years in CA, I twice took the course to avoid points and insurance impact. (the ticket disappears, and so does your money)

Still had to pay the ticket fine, and pay for the class, and take a whole day in a ridiculous class.

Cost-wise, it was worth it.  (insurance increase alone)

The average IQ of the class (and the instructor) was pretty low, which made for a funny day.

What do you do on a yellow light?   Floor it.

What's the first thing you say to the cop when he comes to your window?  I'll have a big mac happy meal, thank you.

(it went on like that all day)

In VA, we can take an online class to gain a few points to the good, to displace your bad point total, but your tickets remain on your record and the ins co knows about them.  Not as good a deal, and there is no humor to be found.

I spent 28 years as a  police and one of the funniest was a kid I stopped for 15 over. When I asked him why he said " I have to poop". Can you follow me home so I can then write me a ticket? I did, at 10 over most of the way to his home. He pulled in his driveway,  and bailed running into the house. About 10 minutes later he came out and over to my cruiser. "I'm sorry he said, you can give me my ticket". All I could was laugh! I didn't  issue,  chewed him a little and left. We have all been there.

In my youth, I attended several traffic schools.   I'm told that in Kansas, much of the speeding fine monies go to local school districts.   Don't know that's in fact true but, if it is then that explains the reason there are two libraries, one middle school and three high schools carrying very similar names to my own.

At 17 years of age, I was on my way to another driving school after the issuance of a third speeding ticket.   Was running late,  guess what....................   Got the invitation to the Policeman's Ball and continued on my way.   Got to the school late, the instructors did not appreciate it one bit.   They gave me a rash of crap about it and almost didn't let me in.   I walked to the front of the class and handed him my latest ticket.   He stood there wide eyed and laughed out loud.   Looked me straight in the eye and said, "Oh, you're the PITA the local LEOs have been talking about".   Wink

Actually, he said speed demon but, I thought some here might like it better rephrased.  Cheesy   Other than that, it's a true story.

The next law will be no devices visibly allowed in the vehicle.

Someone was pulled over for using a phone and he said Nope, I was searching for a song.

Don't know what they'll do about using the device as GPS.  Probably will have to be in a cradle for hands free use.

As time goes on, more and more cars will have these things as standard equipment anyway.
