Hey you guys, I'm diggin' on this oil!

So far I have tried Honda's 10w/30 full synthetic oil, Amsoil's product, Valvoline 10w/40, and Castrol's synthetic 10w/40 4T.  I like this stuff the best.  Man does my bike run smooth with this stuff!

I know man, but seriously...oil MAKES A DIFFERENCE.  This is no  revelation man, I have known this for years now.  I invite anyone to conduct the same experiments and tell me I am wrong!

Can we start a new technical term for this like Adrianitis or Adrianendorsement syndrome? I just changed the filter on my bike and it seems like its much quicker. 

But seriously, I am teasing you but I do know what you mean. I have never noticed so much change in just changing oil in any vehicle before. When you said it got its pep back it was a good term to describe what I was feeling. There is no explainable answer at this point that would make this happen but I believe like you its a real change in the performance. Now the question is are we loosing our marbles or is there some real explanation for this?

For the sake of appearance lets just say that scientifically we just formed a hypothesis, now we have to set about proving it. See doesn't that sound better?    Not to mention its more fun because we can perform maintenance now in the name of scientific study.

LOL great minds think alike Adrian. I just switched to that today and the bike ran great, shifting was so much smoother. Maybe some video later of my little test ride.

COOL!!!  What other oil can you compare it to?

Honestly this is the first time in 20 plus years of riding that I have spent the extra money for synthetic. I ran the stock OEM 10/30 Dino oil until this change, but I could feel the difference in the gear box.

Or you simply lack the sensitivity...  No offense man...but I can feel it all the time...It's subtle, but DEFINITELY there.  There is a significant difference between conventional oil and synthetic.  You'd have to be a rock not to tell...  Even in my cars I can feel the difference.    Just pour a drop or two on the garage floor. Try wiping it up without brake clean.  NOT...  Conventional oil...  a regular cotton rag will clean it up almost completely.

The differences between synthetics is very subtle.  Usually with one oil it will shift ever so slightly smoother...  and it will stay that way longer...   Viscosity too makes a difference man.  These Valks are FASTER with the recommended 10w/30. Not a huge difference of course...but you notice it revving faster..especially at the bottom end of the RPM range.

Yep, that's where I picked mine up as well. Talking about shifting, the way I knew it was smoother is there was less of a clunk going into gear and I accidentally downshifted by gently and I mean gently tapping the top of the shift lever with NO clutch.

Do you not note how it revs slightly faster AND smoother...especially at the beginning of the power band?

thanks for the tip AdrianR! i will keep an eye out for it once i run out of the case of Amsoil and filters.

i tried the Motul 300V raceline oil for my first oil change and it was awesome, but too pricey for my taste...

10 bucks per qt. is still cheaper than Amsoil at 10.55 per qt. I can get it for.

oil does make a slight difference, especially when new inside the engine vs. say 5-6K MILES on same oil seems to shift smoother, etc. with fresh oil

Plus it's faster!  The engine revs quicker, runs quieter and cooler...

Again, I will remain cautious and use 'bike only' oil, especially while the bike is under caution.  I will say that my bike runs best with this oil.  In the end this is the only true test.  How does it feel in your bike?
