Got a good ride in before the storms showed up here today.
Stopped by the Caldwell County Railroad yard in Hickory.
I fell and broke my tail bone about a year ago and just now
got to where I can Get a good ride in. At first 5 miles was it.
But now I can go on a normal ride I just have to get off and
stand up for 5 minutes every 30 miles or so and then good to
go for another 30. Right after falling I tried to take it out every
3 weekends or so to move some gas through the carbs.
We have a Exxon station near the house with non ethanol gas.
But you never know what's coming out of the hose.
Several people I have talked with about a Tail bone injury said
it is very slow to fully heal. They weren't just whistling Dixie.

The Caldwell County Railroad was formed in 1994 when Norfolk Southern sold the 22-mile (35 km) line from Hickory to Lenoir to the Caldwell County Economic Development Commission (CCEDC). The CCEDC subsequently leased the line to the Caldwell County Railroad Company, a subsidiary of Southeast Shortlines Inc.
The line was originally constructed as 3 ft (914 mm) gauge in 1874, under the charter of the Chester & Lenoir. The line was part of the subsequent reorganization into the Carolina & North-Western Railway in 1897, which was absorbed into the Southern Railway around 1940. As part of the Thoroughbred Shortline Program, the line was spun off to the Carolina and Northwestern Railroad, which operated the line from 1990 to 1994.
On March 21, 2007, the CWCY filed a request with the Surface Transportation Board to abandon 5 miles (8 km) of its line near Lenoir to near Valmead. The request was approved on July 9, 2007.

Picture's show the 2 engines of the Caldwell county Railroad.
They are ex SCL L&N Family lines System GP 16's. And a
pic of the old diamond from years ago. The info I copied and
pasted mentions getting permission to abandon the upper
portion of the line and that was because of the Google data center.
They feared the vibration of the train going by close to their
building would damage their equipment.

Engine 1811.

Engine 1747.

Walking backwards with a water hose. Tripped on a piece of asphalt.
I do not walk backwards anymore. I have caught he** from my kids
because I always have told them not to walk backwards. I should
have been following my own advice.
