Me and my Valk at Freedom Rock

« on: August 08, 2016, 03:01:56 PM »

Next week, the 16th, if the weather holds, I'll be making my way to Colorado.

Everything is somewhat tentative at the moment but this is plan A.

Depart Iowa on the afternoon of the 16th. This is largely determined when I get off of work. (I'm in at 5 am and we work till 1 pm. but lately we have been going to 3 or 4.)
I hope to make Kearny, Neb. for the overnight. Again, much depends on the weather and work and I won't know much of either till that day.

From the overnight in Nebraska, I will make my way Wed. to the Loveland area. Will likely call it a day there.

Thursday, through Rocky Mountain National Park and eventually make my way to Idaho Springs. I will call it a day there.

Friday the plan is to ride up Mt. Evans. My son and DIL live in Cent. City and they want to go up there too.

We spend the day at Mt. Evans then my son is going to the Cubs/Rockies game Friday night and I go check into one of the hotels near the airport. My wife and daughter are flying in on Friday night.

Saturday we head downtown and meet up with my Son, DIL, my daughter and my Uncle who lives in Downtown Denver. Do lunch, visit a bit and hit the Cubs/Rockies Sat. night game. The plan is to use the train system to get from the hotel to the game and back.

Sunday is a Polish Food Festival at the Polish Roman Catholic Church in downtown Denver. We are not Polish but will be for one day. Looks interesting. Then we will find someplace or something to finish out the day.

Monday wife and I depart Denver and head to Ft. Collins with some of the others in tow. Our group will be touring the New Belgium Brewery there. Son has a restaurant picked out in Fort Collins. Aloha coffee and grill? Says it is pretty good.
Anyway, when we are done with that the wife and I begin the trip home on the bike. Likely an overnight in Neb. somewhere then on to Omaha so the wife can retrieve the car.

Just need to be back by Wed.

So, with that, I'll be in the area (Loveland/Idaho Springs/Denver) starting on the 17th.
Let me know if anyone wants to head up Mt. Evans on Friday or make a run through RMNP on Thurs. while I'm out there.

If there are any fund raisers, poker runs, car shows, bike shows etc, let me know too. We may be looking for more and alternate things to do.

Was on top of Mount Evans last Saturday am. Temp was 32 with a stiff wind. Bring a jacket.  cooldude
