Tapping on a guitar w/Stanley Jordan

Amazing stuff, at one point he plays two guitars while tapping. I'd love to be able to walk and chew gum at the same time so guess I'll just be a listener.

Mike, look closely at the end of his guitar, there's a cord and connector, he's amplified. Both very enjoyable, but John, what a mind and ear on your guy! Never saw anyone use the fingerboard like that, thanks for sharing, both of you!

He's a local guy, he plays down the road at the Westminster Music Hall
sometimes...

After watching him one night, I came home and tried to make sound come
out by "tapping" on my acoustic guitar. Setting aside for the moment the
necessary musical ability that I don't have  , making that sound
come out of an acoustic guitar seems impossible to me (obviously it is not).
You can practically "just turn on" an electric guitar with those super light
gauge strings and get noise to come out by touching the strings, though
you need to be equipped with musical ability (like that Stanley Jordan fellow)
to make music come out... Some day, when there's no poor soul around,
I'll plug in and see if it seems that much easier to tap some sounds out...

I love the part during the Ferryboat song where he grabs the end of the neck
and flexes the whole guitar for a "whammy" effect...

Yeah Larue, loved that link you posted. I also go for the old soul sound such as BB King and others. As for that bass player, did you notice part way through how he was sweating. That dude was Working!
