Any world map that isn't a globe is going to be "wrong". But as long as you understand the projection the map maker is using, and how it distorts distances trying to make a sphere appear flat, the map, even using Mercator projection, is technically correct.
I remember being on an American (the country, not necessarily the airline) airliner, and the magazine showing their flight destinations neglected to show Cuba, even though it showed smaller island countries that it did not service.
