1999 Standard , starts but only runs on full choke

Going to put my 1999 Valk standard up for sale. Been sitting for about 2 months, battery was dead so I charged it up and went out to start it after placing the ad on Craigslist. Starts on full choke and seems to idle fine, but when I go to shut down choke she dies. Starts right back up and just does the same thing. Never had any issues with her before and have not done anything besides charging the battery. I really don't have much time lately to ride or work on her, am a carpenter, NOT a mechanic, any ideas?

Sounds like your jets are clogged from sitting. Some have had luck with fuel cleaners. I didn't, ended up having to remove carbs and clean them.

Get a bottle of Seafoam and put half of it in a full tank of gas. Idle it for several minutes on choke if you have to. Let it sit overnight or longer. If that doesn't work you'll have to pull the carbs to clean them.

I always try to use Chevron about every third tank to avoid this, guess I just let her sit too long.

Just want everyone to know, am not abandoning the Valk world, I have a very nice '99 Tourer I keep at my cabin in Prescott AZ.

You should come to the BBQ in October. It's on the AZ & SoCal chapters. 

The problem I have found with the gas is that even though it's got Techron in it, it's still got the alcohol mix. If you are not going to ride on a consistent basis search for straight gas.
