ABC's Amy Robach apologizes for using racial slur on the air

http://www.aol.com/article/...on-the-air/21456726/

Amy Robach, a co-anchor for ABC's "Good Morning America," is apologizing after using a racial slur on Monday's show.

"Now, we all know Hollywood has received recent and quite a bit of criticism for casting white actors in what one might assume should be a role reserved for colored people," Robach said.

She made the comment during a news segment about diversity in Hollywood and recent reports that actress Zendaya might have been cast as Mary Jane Watson in the upcoming "Spider-Man: Homecoming" film.

But GMA viewers were quick to point out on Twitter the phrase "colored people" is offensive.

Though the word "colored" has been around for decades and is even included in the name of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, or NAACP, it's now considered outdated.

Someone please notify the NAACP. Apparently, they are outdated.

Make up you're frigg'n minds will ya........

Actually, I'm curious as to who did all the complaining.   I'm betting GMA has more white American viewers than any other group.    Don't know, don't care but, I do think the sensitive folks regardless of color need to lighten up.

What a load of crap. In years past I've been called "casper & cracker" by friends/co-workers of other races and I thought it was funny as hell! I guess I should learn to be "sensitive". Maybe I should even go eat chocolate, pout, and buy a bunch of new shoes?

How do people get so......, Ah, I don't want to be offensive and cause somebody to hold their breath and turn blue.  Roll Eyes

In the recent past, to date when some refers to a "colored person" I generally hear: "WELL WHAT COLOR ARE THEY"?  Well for some of us old farts, we get it.
Did she just say it on her own or was it scripted on a teleprompter?  And who did the word offend? For cryin oout loud people give it up !

It didn't appear to be scripted but, that's just my opinion.

Who was offended, I suspect "white" viewers who are guilt ridden whether justified or not.   IT's the PC thing to do.   I also suspect that the majority of GMA viewers are "white" folks although I could be wrong.

I consider all of our citizens as American, if they wish to further qualify that, tell it to someone that cares.   When I served in the Marines and the Army, we were all "green".   Worked for me.

I think that there is a large segment of the population that just want to bitch about something. They don't care what it is.

There seems to be a lot of people who go to great lengths to be offended.

The problem is that PC has been around for as long as the spoken language.  It will never go away unless people (all of human kind) realizes that a name is just a name.  If a name offends you, then you are not comfortable with who you are.

Doesn't matter if the name rings true or not.  If you're no comfortable with who you are, you get upset that someone THINKS you something you don't want to be.

Shakespeare said it best. "What's in a name? That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet"

Me... I'm comfortable with who I am.  Cajun, coon@$$, honky, whitey, whatever.  NONE of it offends me.

In short, the PC crowd just needs to grow up.

"People of Color" = OK
"Colored People" = Not OK

I guess the word "of" makes the difference?  ???

I think the NAACP allegedly (officially) looks out for all minorities, which would include a variety of colors.  The word colored covers that, however un-PC.   They probably looked for a new word, but couldn't find one.  They could hardly call it the National Association for the Advancement of Black and Brown People, however accurate that might be.
