well it was move in day today, my son starting his 2nd year not a problem at all.

My daughter, this is her Freshman year. It was tough on 'ole dad. there were some misty moments when I said good bye, my wife and youngest daughter stayed behind to help finish decorating the room. We had some tearful hugs last night and yesterday afternoon too but on the ride home the song Golden Slumbers by the Beatles came on the radio and that opened up the water works, it was like Niagara Falls for 15 minutes, I thought I was gonna have to pull off the road. Eyes were flowing, and nose was running but I couldn't turn off that song.

If you don't remember it, here it is;

it seems like it was just a couple years ago she was running around the house in her diaper and driving us crazy with all her coloring and crafts. Boy could she cut paper and loved scotch tape too.

I am in the same boat or will be this thursday moving daughter into UW system over 3 hours away from home.  going to be weird to have an empty bedroom although the past year or so she has not been around much always go,go,go or in her room not getting out of it just to go poddy or get food is all.

Just seems like ONLY a few years ago we rode bikes all over when younger and so sweet and innocent growing up one of the easiest kids to raise, both are actually.

Son going to be alone now might have a tough go of it going to be in 10th grade but will be getting his drivers license in December, WATCH OUT!!  So,  college tuition and raise in car insurance coming once again.  Kids were cheaper when they were younger to afford....   Cry Cry

mom is going to have a tougher time than me I think, will see?   Cry

wish us luck as well on 'the move'.  Will see if we can get packed in the SUV all her stuff or have to take the full sized truck hoping there is NO rain that day since no topper.

wife might be sad at first but will be happy she will get daughters bedroom by herself sleeping since she says I snore at night loudly having to sleep most nights on the couch to get some sleep.

I swear I do not snore loudly since she has gotten out of bed to go on the living room couch and I am awake at the time for the most part still dozing off to sleep and I do not hear myself snoring if awake.

well,  18 year old is now gone off to college today, dropped her stuff off taking 1 hour taking stuff to her room and 1 hour extra to unpack and wife took it pretty hard was bawling her head off and me holding back the tears as well.  Sort of hard to see your kid you raised daily for 18 years every single day be gone for a very long extended period of time and soon to be on her own.

kid was happy to be outta this one horse town nothing to do and boring saying that the past 2+ years in high school.  just glad her roommate whom we met is normal and mellow not a party girl just a plain old girl who is even more less social butterfly than our own daughter.  I think they will get along very well together in the small dorm room and with her mom being nearby (her dad died 2 years ago due to cancer)  is nice to have a parent 30 minutes away vs. us 3 hour drive plus she has her own car on campus in case they need to get dorm supplies or school supplies the first semester there.
Both left campus in her car to go shopping for odds and ends at nearby Target vs. spending time at campus with tons of people to interract with she does not know.

Going to be weird seeing an empty bedroom and in 3 years going thru this all again with our other kid graduating high school.  A weird feeling  inside indeed, just hope she does well and is healthy and happy in her new surroundings with new friends since she really did not like her classmates very well at all in her small class of only 22 kids, time for a change in a much larger school system.
