Its been raining here on and off lately and the showers come and go. I wanted to get out for a ride and was quite honestly happy it was overcast but really didn't want to get into riding in the rain.  I was just going to go grab something to eat for lunch and go home, so when I came out from lunch, I looked around and was like I dont want to go home yet. So rain or no rain I decided to go for a ride. I could see some rain in the distance and I did go through some light showers but its no big deal. It was beautiful since it was cool and just when it started to get hot again, the showers cooled me off. Since I keep the bike waxed the rain just beads and rolls off, so when the showers finish me and the bike are pretty dry. As go along I would look at the rain roll across the surface of the bike which was in itself interesting in the patterns and movements it would make. The rain hitting the windshield being pushed up by the air as I went along. Getting to the top and then blowing off around me. I was really the only vehicle on the road so there were not even other drivers to deal with.

When I stopped at the lake I was the only one there and it was quiet, the air was fresh smelling and the birds would occasionally make noises and you could hear the waves on the shore. Since it was cool and overcast it gave a different mood to this area than it usually has. Just think if I had not gone out today I would have missed it. The air and fields being wet the smell of the rain on the fields and grass there was a quietness that you could feel and you only heard the sound of the tires hitting a slightly wet road. Went to my favorite restaurant on my way home and had dinner, then ordered something to go for the wife and when I got home gave her dinner and washed the bike. It doesn't take long and she looked like new again, ready for the next adventure.

It doesn't get much better than this.

This is port Mayaca at lake Okeechobee

In this pic you can see the rain and clouds off a bit of a distance, If I had panned out to the sky you could see the clouds and the rain in areas.

I love that 'just rained' smell. I think that's the first time I've seen your bike. I don't see that color very often, looks good.

Thanks Baldo,
This is my 01 Valk with my trusty side kick on board. I will be selling this soon now since I have not used it that much since I got my new Valk. Still start her and still take her out just not that much and I dont think I will get enough use out of it to make keeping it worth while. I was not ready to part with her because of all the miles and mods I have done to her but I have think its the wisest thing to do.

Looking at the pic and thinking about when I got the bike, I've been a member here for along time. Have seen many come and go, kind of like what I told my son about his bike. I said this bike will still be around long after your hot rod has come and gone.

That;s pretty sharp too. You could almost cut a hole in the saddlebag cover (gasp!) and let your pup cruise with you. I've seen some pretty cool pooch carrying contraptions out there....

I was actually going to order another cover for him but it was 150.00 and if I go on a long trip I leave the cover off. There was another poster here that did just that cut the hole and put goggles on the dog. Mine would never sit still for that and he's small enough that if the wind gets to much he lays down in the bag. He has actually fallen asleep going 70 and loves riding.

Nice report.  While it's obviously preferable to ride in dry conditions,  one can't help getting a little wet while riding here in BC every now and then.... especially in the early Spring  or Winter months. I actually don't mind riding in the rain.... good rain gear and good waterproof boots make all the difference,  so when confronted with a wet day or two (or more as has happened on many occasions over the years on our multi-day rides) it all just becomes part of the experience. I actually even just head out for a day or a few hours when it is raining once in a while... good practise taking it easy for the times you get stuck and have no choice.

Really nice descriptive report, that was great!

Some of my best memories of riding were in a light rain. It seems like the smells are intensified and it always gave my riding appreciation a big jump.

However, here in NE Indiana we don't seem to be getting a nice light rain with calm breezes any more.

Once again, nice report.

Happy to hear that after giving her dinner and washing her your wife looked good as new Robert   laugh

(yeah I know  but to some like DDT the bike is like a wife, only ALI doesnt get jealous if you sit on another bike or look at one passing by )

A short ride is better than no ride and next time spend more time watching the road and less time watching the water bead up on the windshield  Dont want to hear you hitting any alligators

Enjoyed riding your bike last time I was in Boca on the strip in Delray dont know why you feel the need to sell it, you will regret it once its gone
