Saturday the Rogue Riders rode up to the Hotwheels Weekend car show on the St. Clair River in Marysville MI.  The day started out great, but there were storms coming through later in the day.  The car show was great, free, and 3 Rockabilly bands played.

This was the Twistin Terantulas

I didn't get many Car or Rain shots, so I'll let others that were there add their pics to this thread.

Romeo and I and our wives took off from Marysville before the rain started to try and make it to a eatery before the storm hit, we made it a couple miles south to St. Clair, Mi and found a nice Restaurant with a bank next door.  So we parked the bikes under the drive thru just as the storm hit and rode it out in the restaurant over dinner.  Once the rain stopped it was south to MoTown to the OilySouls custom motorcycle show on Grand River Blvd.  Unfortunately it was dark when we got there so again no pics.  The show is an invitation only display by local custom builders.  I did get some pics on my wife's phone, but I'll add them later.  This show is pretty cool because most of the attendees are old school bikers, lots of old (and new) Harleys, Triumphs, Hondas, Yamahas, you name it and many are customized, but kind of back yard/Shade tree stuff, and a lot of it is old.  There was a block and a half of bikes parked in the median, and probably 25 inside as part of the show.  I know Romeo has some photos he can post.  I also saw a 1947 Hudson pickup there, I had never seen one before.  The rest of the crew was planning on going, but they got stuck in the storm in Marysville, and decided to call it a day.  We stopped for ice cream on the way home and called it a night.

Now Sunday was a little different, last winter I won 2 VIP passes to the Detroit hydroplane races in a raffle.  Food, drinks, and a view from the Roostertail Restaurant on the Detroit River.  I started off with a Bloody Mary and a  made to order omelette, it was yummy:

The view of the course

I wonder what the poor folks were doing?

The package also included Pit Passes, V12 Allison Engines in these

Nice looking pit crew, oh, and a turbine in these

Aquaman was giving these guys a little technical advice, they were tearing apart an engine that got a little too hot on Saturday, I think Mike was saying replace it with a flat six with lots of chrome and bedazzles.

I did get some video and will have to figure out how to post it, it's amazing how loud the suck-bang-blow boats  are compared to the turbines.

It was a very long day and a very busy weekend.  Mike and Gary please add your pics and comments to this thread when you get a chance.

I'll try to get the videos up.

Unlimited hydroplanes are another great Detroit tradition. My dad started taking us when we were 5 yrs old. The old boats with the aircraft engines in them were called thunderboats for a reason. I can remember the ground shaking when they went past. I shoulda sprung for a ticket to join you guys.
