i use the wildlife innovations. Have 8 of them in the woods from about march till the end of december. I have the 8MP and get some great pictures. Cuddeback is one of the better ones with a .1 second reaction time. Mine cost about 80 bucks each.

I check out the Cuddeback images on the net, and noticed that the night shots were in color and was probably uses a regular style of flash, rather than IR style of flash or lighting. Nice pics though!

yes you can get IR or regular flash in most cameras. I use IR so the deer won't scare. Regular flash create better pictures though.

I watch a couple of YouTube videos to get an idea on how to setup, some of the brought an issue I didn't consider is theft of the units. I just ordered a cheapo Moultrie A-20 from EBay, to get my feet wet on the units, just incase. Sounds like it could be a fun toy!

My friends who live up on the hill above San Francisco have several
in their back yard. Right there on the edge of metropolis they
get pictures of mountain lions...

Not sure yet! What gave me the idea is something I guess was trying to climb on my raspberry bush. I just planted this year, and several of the branches were broken and the bush's health sort of started going south.  So I want to see what at night was messing with the bush.  But I am sure I can find some creative project to use it for, like maybe put it in the woods around here and see what creatures live here.

I have several Moultrie and love em.  Clear pics all the time. Trail cams make  me hate coyotes! Got a pic this  spring of a coyote with a fawn in its mouth. I SHOOT any coyote I see.

Ya,  they have been having problems with coyotes snatching family dogs and cats just west of us. I suspect they will make their way here one day, people are having concerns about small children in their yard.

May I suggest an IR flashlight, IR video camera, and a pellet rifle with a scope  cooldude it outta be illegal to have that much fun. I did this with a video camera with a flip out screen taped to the scope and flashlight taped to the barrel. We killed over a hundred rats in 1 night in a hay loft. Google it, there are a few videos showing how to do it.

I think most of them are pretty similar, we have a cheap wildlife innovations set up on a main deer crossing and it captured around 2000 pics last month.  Deer, Bear, Raccoon's, Wolves and Coyotes.

Picked up a locking mount to keep others honest.

Well dreammaker good luck in your quest.  Put it out in the woods and maybe you can get a controversial photo(s) such as Mr. Jacobs did in NE Pa back in 2007 I believe.

Is it a bear or a juvenille Bigfoot.  Limb analysis suggest the limb ratios were much greater than a bear, between a human and a primate.

bought one for one of my Bronx coop clients to use to catch folks smoking weed and drinking
on the 4th floor fire escape night after night. The mom was working and we knew her daughter was having parties every night when she was working.

The super wouldnt install it (wonder if he was tooting with the girl after hours)
so I ended up giving it to TP to use at his hunting grounds

Let me know how your new camera works.  TP have you gotten any good pics yet?

I have a few questions, on the Moultrie, it did not seem to have any info., of use in weather conditions.  I was concerned about rain hitting it directly.  Also the Stealth Cam came in an in their instructions it says “Weather Resistant” that is about as useful as saying “Nice Haircut”.  So I figured, I would talk to the experts, which are the people that own them and use them.
Has anyone had issues with leaking, or their unit in the direct rain, should it be under a protective shield, what are your experiences with them in general.
I would like to put the Stealth Cam out tonight to give it a road test, but they are calling for spotty showers tonight.

Put it out. Mine have been in tons of rain and never had one leak. They have been through a tornado, snow storms and everything but a hurricane.

I have blueberries, black barriers, raspberries, cucumbers and tomatoes, mint, just a couple small plants.   So I got up in the morning and I was disappointed, there was nothing recorded, except me shutting down the camera.  So in the afternoon, I was thinking about the trigger distance.  So I did a test and it was only about 30ft for both cameras I expected maybe 10 or 20 more feet.  SO I happen to remember there were two tomatoes that were almost ripe yesterday, so I went out to pick them.  THEY WERE GONE!!!  The critters fooled the camera and took my tomatoes. SO I am gone to setup both on different locations and see what happens.  Too bad those cameras don’t have a sensitivity settings on the motion detection.

Did another test, with the cams in different locations.  The Moultrie triggered about ten times, but didn't see anything, but maybe a moving branch.  The Stealth didn't fire at all, so it is not as sensitive as the Moultrie. The cams were about the same distance form the garden, but at different angled locations. I guess will do some more testing, if nothing else I am learning the personality of the different cams.
