It's coming up from Sep 26th to Oct2nd.....  I did the Spring and Fall Rally before I turned 50, years ago and it's coming up on my 60th and considering doing it again.

Anyone been there as of late and can say if it improved or not, or any suggestions esp with regard to accommodations?

20 years ago, or so, I was at Charleston with some folks. We were
drinking a few beers out on a dock on a tidal creek. One fellow was
from Pennsylvania, and I happened to have some Rolling Rocks...
"Old Latrobe" it says on the label. It was "exotic" from my perspective,
you couldn't get it just anywhere back then. My friend from Pennsylvania
said that was the cheapest beer you could get where he went to
college in Pennsylvania, so it was what they drank most. The called it
"Old Latrine"...

Anwho... I'm from South Carolina. We don't go to Myrtle Beach much  Smiley ...

Been a couple years. They had banned loud exhaust and made a helmet law. They may have changed it now. But the logo was go around myrtle beach. The shirts said Murrells inlet rally. We stayed in MB and hardly no bikes were there. All at inlet. Which thats where the rats hole and suck bang blow are all at anyway. The motel owner said the mayor and community really screwed them out of income. Which it may be back as orig. now.

I stay out of Myrtle Beach as much as possible and I live here!

Legislators don't want bikers here.  The helmet law was repealed but not after putting a lot of places out of business.  They fancy this place a family beach but the tattoo parlors, tt-bars and drugs have a stronghold and will not be easily displaced.  Crime is high here due to all the transients.

Don't get me started......I can't wait to move West......or North West.  I have less cant 3 years till retirement.

BTW..the tattoo parlors are the least of our worries and I don't begrudge them.

Hmmm... All this time I thought the Pensacola area was considered the "Redneck Riviera".  Smiley

Murrells Inlet, SC: formerly Plymouth, MA

Been in Myrtle Beach area for last 11 years. Have seen a lot of changes. A few years back the city of myrtle beach wanted to get rid of bike week and passed a couple of illegal laws making it mandatory in the city of myrtle beach to wear helmets and they reduced the number of decibels your exhaust is allowed to make. Many bikes stopped coming. The store owners were up in arms, along with many motorcycle groups and brought it to court. Long story short, myrtle beach was forced to repeal both ordinances. Bike week is now centered a lttle south in Murrells inlet (where I live) the bikes have returned and Bike week is strong as ever. Many vendors, live bands, and demo rides from all the mc manufacturers. In my opinion it is better than before. We still boycott the city of myrtle beach because of their arrogance and stupidity. Spring bike week is the larger event, but Biketoberfest has been growing in leaps and bounds the last couple of years.
Come on down................... I'm sure you'll enjoy it. cooldude
