Kind of had a delayed memory reaction,  I recalled a plant I just pulled out of my little garden, and something was familiar about it.  Tell me this is not what I think it is. About a week ago I started getting these bumps; I thought the mosquitoes were getting me at first.  Then I thought it was an allergy of some type, and briefly thought maybe poison ivy, and then I remembered this plant I pulled.  I am not savvy with these plants.

That looks like what grows in my yard.  I thought it was benign as the leaves are not smooth on the sides.

I broke out in a rash and I'm not generally sensitive to poison ivy.   I washed with Ivy Dry for several days to make it go away.

I am hoping it is not poison ivy, I looked on line, but there are so many variations, us city slicker can't tell.

If you're showing symptoms treat them quickly. There are over the counter soaps that will take care of it before it sets in seriously.

red stem
3 leaves
let it be

either poison ivy oak or sumac

Wash with good soap and rub with wet towel to try to get residue of the oil of the plant off, repeat several times using new towel

Throw the old towels out is what we do

I think its Technu and other products help catch the oil in 1st day

There are youtube videos you can download
if it goes systemic in you take benadryl or anti histamine

hope you wont need prednisone that stuff is nasty

and DONT burn the plant, wear disposable gloves and disposable painter clothes from hardware store and pull the roots out

Looks like sumac. I'm allergic to all of it and have tried many things. This I found works the best. And I've had no after effects ( so far ) LOL, from doing it.
I get a rough washcloth, or any scrubbing device you may have and scrub area with straight bleach. Then let air dry.
Next day. All dried up. almost gone.
Just saying it works for me. Burns, just slightly, but works. Good luck.

It is poison oak. Rule of thumb, 3 leaves, stay away. I won't touch or pull anything with 3 leaves. I get the Roundout and spray all 3 leaf plants!

I pulled it out of my big pot with a tomato plant in it.  The hive like bumps, much have gone, I was wondering if I am just creeping myself out and causing the hive myself. I scrubbed down yesterday and nothing, like a bad rash has hit me yet.  So I don't know what to think. Although looking at the pics. three leaves with red stem it looks like, someone mentioned not a good sign.

I first I thought you were kidding, guess you are not.

The picture is of poison oak. Red stem and 3 leaves scalloped round ended leaves. Kinda resemble oak leaves.

Poison ivy is 3 leafed, but, the leaf ends are pointy. Kinda resemble ivy leaves.

Poison Sumac is multi leafed [ 6-12 leaves]. Sumac has many leaves on the stem.

But, since all the names begin with poison, its usually good to take precautions around them. Whenever I get any of it, I just jump in the shower as soon as possible and scrub up. If I get the rash I scrub them with a heavy brush and gasoline, but, most folks think I'm nuts and won't do it. Works for me though and I guess thats what matters.

Around here it is against the law to burn it.  ???  We just have to carefully remove it and put in with yard waste to be composted.
