Just picked up the 1800 from the grumpster and drove to the cottage b4 the rains came.  She has new Avon boots and powder coated timing cover and valve/spark covers in a flat textured black with an OEM Honda band that did not come on wings moreover a dress up item. Well let's see if the new band is a fit with the new flat textured covers, thoughts?  Either you like or too smoky and the bandit?

I will wipe off the extra oil on the cover.

Grumpy

Darn, missed a spot.  :o

Life is like a hot bath. It feels good while you're in it, but the longer you stay in, the more wrinkled you get.

Especially like the Goldwing emblem and "HONDA" black lettering, perfect compliment.

Be careful leaving your bike with Grumpy, you may just convert him. 8)
If you can't be a good example: be a WARNING!!

If I had the coins available, might be a possibility.

My Mom's oldest sister (aunt Olie) and her husband Ed had a place on Page lake near New Milford PA. It is a private lake and there was and still is a 35hp limit.  Etched in my mind for years after those wonderful annual vacations there at the cottage on the lake was all the old boats from the 40s, 50s and some of the newest ones from the early 60s at the time. With that was the memorys of the home made docks almost everyone had where there was a metal frame attached to the dock with a corrugated metal roof complete with slings that would cradle the boat and a huge round metal wagon wheel to hand crank the boat out of the water and tuck it up under the roof. I learned to water ski on that lake when I was about 8years old. Gosh what hp would it take to get me F A out of the water now. About four years ago Sherry and I contacted the association that manages the private lake and explained my connection, the guy gushed that he remembered my Aunt and Uncle well. We were told that there were a few that would rent out their places on the lake but there wasn't many outsiders that came to the lake, so we pounced on a cabin across the lake from where my aunts place we visited in the 60s and 70s and guess what! This lake has not changed! Maybe a couple of new places but that was it and what took me back the most was the home made docks with the metal covered boat racks with the big wheels were everywhere and they were filled with the same era boats.  Our place had a paddle boat and we had a great time putzing around the lake.   Side note. The things one does not know about your spouse of many years.   Sherry can't row a boat.  She can't get the motion to compute in her mind. I almost peed myself.  Like using a computer mouse for the first time.   :2funny:  they also had a row boat for the renters use.

Now that is a really old picture.....................

My buddy Rob had a 38ft Hustler with twin V8 Evinrude Outboards  :cooldude:

Pappy, what's the displacement on that V-8?  I've often wondered why some outboards developed more HP per CI than comparable size automotive engines.

Grumpy

Easy when they can turn 3 times the rpm.

Pappy, what's the displacement on that V-8?  I've often wondered why some outboards developed more HP per CI than comparable size automotive engines.

A 2-stroke produces power every stroke and does not have the parasitic drag of a 4-stroke exhaust cycle. This alone helps to easily produce the high horsepower and torque values/cu. in. the 2-strokes are known for.
A cool example here would be (going from memory) a 183Ci V-6 Johnson 225hp produced a whopping 425lbs of torque. This was equal to a pretty stout big block Chevy at that time.
To answer your question the 3.6L V8 pictured was around 220Ci. and produced around 320hp at the prop in production form. That particular engine was well above production spec. These engines came alive with basic bolt-ons as well. The massive port area and bore/stroke ratio of the V8 took it to an overall world speed record of 177mph at less than a full throttle run and that engine's displacement was only a 3L engine if I remember correctly. The record still stands and there is another attempt with another Evinrude V8 powered hull that is in development by an independant effort.
