tunneling in the yard?
ONLY thing I that I know of not trying is those spike traps that are set in the ground slicing and dicing them when movement is below it.
I tried the gopher/mole pellets, grub control to get rid of grubs in the yard thus the moles suppose to go away, and also a big bag of mole repellent small granules that when soaked into the ground, the moles go the other way not liking the smell, etc. of those granules.
I think all 3 of my wasted attempts just made it WORSE.
ONLY thing is tried and true mole spike traps killing the buggers once and for all and at least those spikes are reusable unlike the 40-50 dollars spent on pellets in the hole and repellents put on the lawn. I do see those gummy type worms suppose to kill them but only get like 6 of them for like 20 bucks - OUCH. If they work is worth it but the pellets they seem to like and just put in the holes and gobble them up like candy. Almost tempted to find a few M80 stuck in the holes or something more KABOOM to blow up the yard in hopes they go away then, but not likely.

Pellet rifle with a scope. I bagged about 80 chipmunks that way. I am not far from you. Fire up the grill and invite the neighbors for a "Q",

Jack Russell Terrier, my brothers little mut brought 40 woodchucks this year. That's 10 more than his son with a .22 LR and a scope. He has horses and the chuck holes can break a horses legs.

Although not a 100% method, works about half the time, I excavate the tunnel enough to stick a garden hose into the tunnel and turn it on full force. Hopefully inserting it so that the water flows in the direction of the mole. Then I stand by with my spade and wait for the critter to surface. Works when I guess right. It helps to have Bowser standing by watching also, he see stuff/movement I would most likely miss. Obviously doesn't when I don't put the hose in flooding the wrong end of the tunnel.

The spike traps work well. Wipe them down with alcohol to remove any sign of human scent prior to inserting them in the hole.

Put on latex gloves.
Dig up worms.
Dip half of worm in Roundup.
Put worms into tunnel. They die and smell appetizing to a mole
Mole eats and dies.

Menards sells a spring loaded loop trap that chokes them. Works great and sure got rid of my moles. However,, if you get rid of the grubs in your yard or whatever they are after, ,they will leave. Usually its grubs

I attended a seminar on moles and the "expert" says moles' preferred food is earth worms. Unfortunately, worms are good for the soil. So, getting rid of the moles' primary food source can have unintended negative consequences for your lawn. I've tried the spring-loaded spike traps with minimal success. Someone suggested the scissors-type that is placed into the tunnel and cuts the little boogers in half. The whole trick, I think, is to locate one of their main runs that they use repeatedly. Based on my killing results over the years, I'm not too good at identifying those tunnels.

And also not the Harbor Freight solar powered spike that emits a "supposedly" annoying buzz every 30 seconds or so that "claims" to reach out 1500 feet and chases the moles and gophers to your neighbors yard. I've got a picture of one of these devices about 3 foot away from a gopher mound that showed up a week after I put it out!! Maybe I just got tougher gophers... (Or deaf) According to my bugman putting out the pellets or traps is "hit and miss" because they have a whole "city of streets" underground and to catch them on that one "street" is a lot of luck! Kinda what doubletee says...

Too bad we don't have real cars anymore. My Dad hooked a hose to the exaust and fattened up the carb. Idle for an hour and problem was solved. Mom's vacuum hose was funky though.

Our off base military housing at March AFB (which was most of it) was so substandard (out in the low desert), all the homes were over run with mice. People went after them with all the usual remedies, which were only temporary. Command and housing tried to help, but nothing really worked. One of the 15th AF senior enlisted advisers hooked his car exhaust to a tube and piped it into his house about once a month. It worked (also temporarily), but he got it filmed on the local news to shame command (smart fellow). Buckets of dead mice. That worked too. A long involved deal with local developers was finally reached to give them a huge tract of Fed/USAF land for free, and the developers were then going to build new enlisted and Jr officer housing for free which would be mouse proof. Finally, a solution. The local libs, tree huggers, Sierra Club and EPA got that whole deal squashed because it was discovered the whole area was inhabited by the infamous Kangaroo Rat (which also got into the houses). Thereafter we killed every jumping rat we could find. More important than thousands of troops (and dependent wives and kids). Cuter than moles, but still rodents.

that almost can be done if the sandhill cranes living 50 yards or so in our cornfield behind our house gets more use to humans being 50 feet away from our house. That is a neat video as well as this one. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MP0DFVO16Zknever knew those cranes could swallow something so huge but our moles are I think bigger than gophers but not as big as that catfish. I dug one up once rototilling our garden and it was HUGE and UGLY no eyes very weird looking the size almost of a prairie dog.

A few days ago a friend dropped off half a bottle of Moletox he picked up at Country Max. He claims it did the job on his moles, munks and squirrels.
So I set some out and gave it a couple days. I speak to moles, but, it does work on monks.

take a cutting torch and light it and get it ready for use then put the tip down on a piece of metel to put the flame out, gas is still running out. put the tip of the torch in the moles hole, (the one in the ground, not his back side), and let it blow the gas into the hole for about 30 seconds,, wrap a piece of toliet paper onto the end of a 10 foot stick and light it,, drag over the hole,, no more mole

Best thing I have found to get rid of moles is my 12 gauge Remington 870! Gets them every time I grew up on a farm and my dad used to put the anhydrous amonia hose in the hole and turn it on. It killed them immediately, except we now had yellow streaks in the yard.

Get a cat or two. They will reward you with their hunting abilities.
When I was a kid our cats would bring home moles from spring thru fall.

Well, I am sick of the dozens of tunnels mostly on one side of our yard about 15-20 tunnels all over into my neighbors yard mostly as well. I have given up on the mole pellets, dust repellent, and grub control wasting well over 50 bucks the past few years so got me a Victor mole trap today that got good reviews under 9 bucks. I might have to take it back though directions never said have to bend the set rod an inch to get to set the trap on catch plate hook below, set rod seems to be 1/2 inch too short to get it to catch on the bottom plate without that sharp bend in it. I set it up ONE of dozens of tunnels in my yard and covered it up. Sure hope the scissors jacks cuts the critter in half or squeezes the living daylights out of it. Am sure there are a few more to go so wish me luck. At least if it works, I can reuse it to catch another dozen or so and then get one for the other side of my property. I swear those mole/gopher pellets are candy to them the more I put out, the more they come in. I have a few mole tunnels in the middle of my yard, but the sides of my city lot are mostly the culprit. ONLY thing not sure they will work since the one mole I dug up with my rototiller was the size of a small cat was HUGE and this mole trap with scissors like to clamp down on them might not be big/wide enough? Man, I would LOVE to get rid of a dozen or more this fall, so bad on that one side of my lot that my mower bottoms out all over the place, plus having to replant grass seed every year is getting to be expensive and annoying. I am beginning to wonder though if moles are attracted to electrical current as well since both sides of my city lot have electrical boxes nearby where they have been tunneling all over? http://www.farmandfleet.com/products/163208-victor-out-osight-mole-trap.html

how many did you catch in that one mole trap to rid of them all in 1 week? I am betting I have 1 mole in the middle of the backyard, 2-3 on one side, and guessing 7-10 on the other side all in back, just guessing judging by the amount of tunnels. Strange thing is prior to a few years ago, moles were never an issue in the past 20+ years living here, very odd. Also got other critters moving in seen a mangy fox VERY up close NOT scared of me, a few unafraid chipmunks set a small trap out for him but so far no luck, and what appears to be a woodchuck living nearby. That mangy fox was scary was only about 10 yards in front of me and would NOT run away, and was loosing its fur and looked sick. Scared the crap outta me since if I would not have looked up walking into my backyard I would have come even closer to him am sure. As far as setting our live trap for that chipmunk, do you put bait inside the trap and if so, what for food? My mother in law just sets the same small trap in her backyard NO bait and the chipmunks are stupid enough to run inside the trap setting the middle lever off to close the door on them and has already caught 10 of them in the past few weeks, darn critters do some major damage as well.

I used to gas them with the exhaust from my car. If you can get a hose to withstand the heat. hook it to the exhaust pipe and run the car or truck for half an hour. It will fill the tunnels and put them into a long sleep.

My favorite disposal for chipmunks is a pellet rifle with a scope. Mostly all head shots. Next is a spring (rat size) trap. Strawberries work best. Peanut butter is second. I really prefer the target practice on the little patio destroyers.

I got 4 of them,, and used 2 of those traps. 4 moles can make so many tunnels its unbelievable. That was 4 years ago. Since then I have had some come back and I put those traps out and catch them in no time. Best trap i have found.
