yesterday i rode to work like always. You'd think that i would have remembered to remove my key from the ignition, but NO!

Had no clue i had forgot it in there until i left for the day and felt for my keys while walking up to her....

i'm such a dolt...i'm lucky she was still where i parked her. Good thing she is intimidating to most people 


didn't repeat this brainfart this morning and hopefully never again!

I did the same thing at a rest stop on I-64, of all places, coming home from the MIM ride.  Would have been a long walk home.

Only once? Ha, I've done it several times.  And I have a bright red 'Remove Before Flight' flag attached to my key.

I haven't left my key in the bike, but I've left my running lights on (not keyed).

If it's McDonald's there's still enough juice.  If it's a sit down-order-and get served lunch, it's push start time.

You can push start these? I always thought fuel injection engines couldn't be pushed because the fuel pump needs power to run.

Smooth move Einstein!  Actually I did something more stupid. Circa 1999, parked my Vulcan 800cc cruiser for lunch.  Engaged the fork lock.  When I left I forgot to disengage the fork lock.  Attempted to move forward out of a parking spot to the left... the bike immediately high sided throwing me off to the right...  FORTUNATELY, no one next door at McDonalds saw me being such a dork.

I was talking about a 1500.

Engaged the fork lock.  When I left I forgot to disengage the fork lock.  Attempted to move forward out of a parking spot to the left... the bike immediately high sided throwing me off to the right..

Oh I did that before too, on a Harley.  I didn't get thrown off, but the bike and I went over together.  Very graceful.... and embarrassing.  Only I had a padlock on the caliper, not the fork lock.  Same result.

I have done worse things with my Infiniti because of the key fob

forget to turn off the motor and walk away
forget to  put it in park and turn it off and walk away

I am glad we do not have fob's  for out bikes

I did the same thing. Luckily my bike is within 100 feet of me all day long.

Completely dead battery... no.  Can't be push started.

Low battery (as in too low to turn over the engine, but still enough to run the fuel pump & computer)... yes.  It can be push started.

It all depends on how dead the battery is... mostly dead or all dead.

Ok, it's my turn.  Pulled up in front of a liquor store when I was still drinking with my wifey on the back.  Was going to let her sit while I went in to get a bottle.  Forgot to put the damn kickstand down so we went for a ride.  Was on a street glide and was at Thunder Beach with at least forty bikers in the lot.  Now that makes you feel like a pud.

If the battery has 10v and when you turn the key on you should be able to push start it. The pump will cycle and the dash come on just not enough juice to turn the bike over.
