Pretty sure that's a VT1100, not 1000.

No exp, but those were all pretty nice bikes.

There's projects Smiley, and then there's projects  Cry.

Choose wisely.

I just sold an 89 VT1100 with 14,000 miles.  They are great bikes.  The early ones had 4 speed transmissions (mine did) and more power than the newer shadows (mine was claimed at 68 hp).  One thing the Valk has over the shadow, at least in my view, there are three basic models of the Valk and seemingly hundreds of Shadow models.

Check out the Shadow Forum at this link.  Tons of info.  http://www.valkyrieforum.com/bbs/index.php/topic,89166.0.html
If you end up buying the 86, you will want to spend lots of time on the forum.  You will soon discover there various strengths and weaknesses.

I've had project bikes that started as a frame and some dirty boxes of parts. It is a matter of - Is it worth it to you?

Fazer, I don't think that was the intended link.  I have a small VT750 and hang here a bit http://www.hondashadow.net/forum/

I had a 98 shadow 1100 Aero an loved it. I put 86000 miles on it in 4 years. Very comfortable  evey for long distance. I bought my Valk in 02 and had to sell the shadow due to a layoff. I miss that bike as much as the Valk.

Yes, I found that forum already, but thank you. They are asking 750 for it, but gonna need to have it shipped. So gonna see about a better deal. Bike looks in good shape, very few cosmetic scratches. Just been sitting in garage for a while.
