I knew he didn't like Trump, but Hilliary, "everything she touches she sort of screws up"  WOW what do you know, he knows it to be true too.

I have a lot of respect for General Powell, he's a man of integrity based on everything I've ever heard or read about him.   That's not to say I agree with the General on everything.    I don't like Trump either, probably for many of the same reasons.   I also recognize Clinton as a con-artist, liar and thief that manages to screw everything she touches with the possible exception of Bill.   She leaves that for  others.

I used to feel the same way, but the last few years his shiny persona his tarnished a little for me. I would have voted for him 10 times over Obama. Obama could polish Powell's shoes but that is about the only government job he deserves. JMHO

Powell endorsed the Zero twice.

That (more than) cancelled any other redeeming values he had.  (and he had some)

Given the option, I'll take General Powell over Obama or Clinton anytime.   That does not mean I'd take him or some other options.

Maybe the reason we don't seem to get qualified and respected nominees for the presidential office is that the really "good guys" don't want to get involved in the political crap storm that is the political process today.

I don't know about Powell.  He was Sec'y of State when we went into Iraq.  I seem to recall he was against it, and made his feelings about it public.  Then, all of a sudden, after a meeting at the White house, he's on board as if everything he stated prior to that meeting never happened.

But I do believe e would have been a far better 1st black president than Obama.  I don't recall Powell ever stating he wanted to change the country or redistribute wealth like Obama did.  I also don't believe we'd have heard the cries of racism like we have with Obama.

The difference is Powell is a smart guy, whether you agree with all his philosophies or not, while Obama and the rest are politicians. The sad truth today is that the most 'electable' candidate is not the most qualified, it's who looks best on camera and has the catchier sound bytes. And it doesn't hurt to be in the party that's in bed with the media, either. Very rarely will we see one candidate be both.

Powell Smart? Not so much. He seems to have a chip on his shoulder about not getting what he thinks he deserved for the last 10 years or so. Petty and childish, he needs to get a life.

I would not want him for anything other than for him to just go away.

I was surprised to learn that he is 79. Maybe he nwill soon decide to relax and play with the grandkids or something
