Cannonball race had a stopover in Cape Girardeau, MO. I'm a couple of hrs from Cape so rode down to check it out. What a fun day we had. Bikes were on display and several were ridden around the parking lot. All bikes in the race had to be at least 100 yrs old. There were Harleys, Indians, Excelsors, Hendersons, and a few others I had never heard of. Very interesting to see these bikes being ridden. One owner/rider was 83 yrs old. Gathering also included a vintage bike and car show. My hat is off to the participants. A 3,000 mile cross country ride on a slow moving 100 year old bike would take stamina I'm sure I don't have.

I had forgotten about the vintage vehicles, as I always think of the move. Was it Cannon Ball or Gum Ball Rally? Doesn't really matter, nice movie for a kid.

I've seen some of those, nice! The mechanics are very interesting, and I love old bikes. Never seen a Merkel but hope to someday.

Those guys invented the iron butt.

I was at the harley dealer in Darlington Md. sat. Saw them all roll in and roll back out after lunch. It really was quite a sight to see all that 100 year old iron on the roll again. Some of the riders had period correct rider gear that was pretty hilarious. It was definitly worth the long hot slog down 95 to see them.
