or method of putting new vac cap plugs on easily?  I purchased a set of BonS' Super Duper ones.  Last time I did it on the Tourer it was kinda a PIA, and took longer than it should have.  I know it's not a heavy job, but getting in behind those runners and squeezing the little clamp while sliding the cap over in one fell swoop is tricky and makes me cuss.   :tickedoff:

Well, my technique is to use 45 degree long needle nose pliers and grip on the clamp itself while twisting and pulling. After the clamp just begins to get on the nipple I then grip just behind the clamp while pulling with a bit of a twist. I never attempt to directly spread the clamp instead I just let the intake nipple do it.

Well, sometimes it's twisting, pulling and cussing!

I've had my bike for about 14 yrs. now and after desmog I never used clamps, just a snug fitting cap and never have had a problem. When I remove/replace them for syncing or ?? I just use some 45 deg. really long needle nose. Removing the runners is a lot of unneeded extra work and you run the risk of breaking a good seal unless you replace the o-rings each time.

I also slick up the plug with the spit de jour. Makes it easier to slip over the nipple.

Looks like I'll be investing in some 45* long needle nose pliers.  And spitting!   ;D

After seeing Bon do a couple carb synch's in Spearfish I knew I wanted one. Got mine at harbor freight for under $10. (Haven't used the pornstar spitting on the nipple technique yet though)  ;D

Now y'all can understand why some members frequent the Tech board more than the main board. That's 'cuz it do get funky at times.  ;D  Frankly, I'm not that accurate with my expectoration so I just give it a shot of plain rubbing alcohol from a spritzer bottle I keep in the shop. Makes it slippery as snot on a doorknob.
