Just trying to make sure i don't miss something

Was out in Wyoming a few tears ago and because I didn't ask questions I missed the Needles Highway... drove right around it... Got home and almost every one I told about the trip said "How'd ya like the Needles Highway?"......

Haven't got back there yet.... Angry

Welp, if ya haven't done it yet, jump on the Blue Ridge somewhere.

A trip to Asheville NC is beautiful and a visit to the "Biltmore  Estate" is recommended.

Just driving around on the grounds is amazing.

There is so much to see in that part of the country, you could spend months.

Glad to hear you're in the wind Bro!
Don't know where all you're noodle'n around at but...
16 between Tazewell, Va & Marion, Va., Back of the Dragon
160 between Cumberland, Ky. & Appalachia, Va. (supposed to rival The Dragon)

421 from Hyden, Ky. to Harlan, Ky.
or 66 from Oneida, Ky. to Pineville, Ky.
(these two parallel each other, we prefer 66, runs along the river)

& we really like 70 from Jonesville, Ky. through Kyles Ford to Rogersville, Tn.

All "crankin' & bankin" kinda roads,
have fun Brother cooldude

Thanks Hook...

Have run the Blue Ridge like 10 times the full length... don't know how many time have run it partially...

Have made this trip with Dad and who ever tags along in September since 1990.... About 9 of those years were New England, once to Yellowstone, around all 5 great lakes, and the rest of those years including the last 7 or so have been KY and TN

Mainly looking to hit WV and VA for a couple of days for something different(depending on the weather).... Have been thru, but usually getting someplace....

I'll agree with the BRP and anywhere on the eastern side of Kentucky, Tennesse, North and South Carolina.   Love those roads.

If you are just wanting to ride: Get into West Virginia and get off the 4 lane.  Watch for pot holes, but other than that, it is all good.

If you want to check out things along the way: Philippi is the site of the first land battle of the civil war and there is a covered bridge there.  There is an oil and gas museum in Parkersburg (brick warehouse type of building) and the early well heads at Petroleum, WV.  While in Parkersburg you might enjoy taking the ferry to Blennerhassett island.  The road thru Harrisville is fun and there is an old automotive museum in Harrisville that among it's collection has a Ford flathead engine made into a compressor......custom heads and all.  From there, if you go by Big Bend State Park on towards Cairo, you will enjoy that greatly too.  In Cairo, there is an old railroad museum and also there is a general store loaded with about 100 old vespas.  They hold a vespa rally there every year.

I will add more to this later if you are interested.

These..... ALL of these are great rides. We ride that area at least once a year and those roads never get boring.

Make sure you get to Davis WV and go to Sirianni's for lunch.... best pizza there is. There is only one main road through Davis, it is easy to find.

ALL good roads!

I highly reccomend SR39 it is an excellent ride in both WV and VA. The section from Goshen, VA to Lexington, VA is a must for scenic beauty.

Lexington, VA is chocked full of history, Gen Robert E. Lee's tomb,  Gen Stonewall Jackson's grave, Virginia Military Institute and many other sites of historical interests.

I-64 or US 60 will take you from Lexington back into WV if you wish.

SR 16 is also a great ride in WV and VA it can be picked up off of US60 near Fayetville, WV.

Fayetville is where the New River Gorge bridge is, and I highly reccomend taking the road that runs underneath it.

As others have said almost any road in WV will be fun, just watch out for pot holes everywhere and loose gravel in the turns.

Hoping to get the wild bunch together Saturday for a ride if I don't have to work the weekend again ( I'll know tomorrow ) . If around the cool side of The Great State Of Tennessee would love to hook up. Hoping to get with Reb up around the Greenville area. When we did InZane most of the roads in WV was like riding in a tater patch.

If you're riding along in W VA and you start hitting potholes, you need to stop and turn around because it means you just crossed into PA.

We Plan on being in Clinton by 6pm.... Probably stay the night there on Saturday also... Drinks by the Pool Saturday?....

Is it worth it to go the the Breaks? I read about it in the Goldwing rider magazine and it said its the "Grand Canyon of the West"...... Its Kinda out of the way on the way to Clinton

Otherwise possibly going to hit 66... We are just North of Roanoke (Exit 150 off 81).. so going to be heading south west and will hit whatever along the way to Clinton.

Like Whiskey's suggestions, but last time I was on the Snake it was kinda beat up and marbley.... Undecided

Today we took 33 from W VA to the Skyway/BRP.... And it all to our selves for over 100 miles.... had it in 4th gear almost the entire time... Almost Triple the 35 MPH limit on the Skyway a couple of time... And once Double the limit on the BRP.... Evil Evil Evil Evil

Brad: was going to suggest 33 out of WV to Va, glad you got to ride it. Awesome road!
Took it on the Sunday following the first Hillbilly HWY Run, early in the morning. It seemed like constant switchbacks going directly into the sun. Been wanting to go back and ride it again ever since...
Yous guys have a great ride this weekend, wish I was there. Be sure to stay ahead of Whiskey and his loud ass pipes (yeah, right  Grin ).

Ok ... to push this VALKYRIE and ride related post back to the top......

We headed out this AM from just North/East of Roanoke (exit 150).. Dinner last night at God Damn Cracker Barrel because they always seem to be next to motels...

220 back to the BRP.... Once again BEAUTIFUL Weather and had it almost all to ourselves... Only problem is the sun in your eyes at the worst time entering into a curve....Note to self -  only run the BP North....

Got off at 58 and took that east with the intent to make it to Shady Valley with the intent of getting a T-Short for the time 3 years ago when ew ran the Snake and the cursed store was closed... But because you seem to go more sideways than forward, we ended up in Damascus at 3PM for lunch with the intent of making Clinton by 6PM so we could meet Joe for Dinner...

So realizing that taking any more 2 lane twisties would get us to Clinton at like 10 PM and miss dinner and beers with Joe ( and Miss Cindy and Britman it ended up!) we headed up to 81/40/75 and slabbed it to Clinton.. pulling into the Gas station near the Motel at EXACTLY 6 PM ( as I had predicted that AM- but with a totally different itinerary of roads and sites.. Evil) .... Was in the pool with a Youngs Double Chocolate Stout and a flask of Makers Cask Strength(114 proof) for a 20 minute drink and swim before a nice dinner with the afore mentioned group...

Will see the rest of the bunch at Hardee's at 9:30AM for Breakfast before heading out with the Group.

BTW we will be staying at the Red Roof in Clinton tomorrow nite also and do need to be entertained (hint-hint)... I will buy the first round.. or 2, or 3.....

Sunday we will begin the trek home to Michigan.... Further adventure to follow....

BTW I would post pictures, but..

1. I didn't take many as we have ALL been on the BRP and it still looks the same as it did 15 years ago when we all took 1000 pictures...

2. I was having too much fun to STOP and take anymore God Damn Pictures...LOL

So...

Left today from the Hardees in Clinton TN with Smokin' Joe leading the way....

I would post where we went but I have no idea other than we rode over 150 miles and there are now a lot less of my Cobra Floorboards....... laugh laugh laugh laugh

Giant thanks to Joe for showing myself and 10+ people a good time... got to meet Reb and watch him throw 3 foot of spark on the first hard corner....

Good to see Greg (Smooth Rider) DG (Whiskey), Wimp and Britman-plus several others

Left at 10AM and got back to the motel at 530PM... Great day even with the heat.

Hopefully Joe will chime in and let me know where I went today?!?!??

Heading north tomorrow....
