Believe it was while I was watching N C I S and they broke for what I THOUGHT was commercials to sell unneeded  stuff! Well in a way it wuz!  Roll Eyes 5 count em 5 political spots. And ONLY one soft drink commercial. 3 of the ads were vilifying one candidate-one ad was telling me how good the one being vilified actually is and the other ad was vilifying h c on her 2nd amendment stance. And I might add-the rest of the evening weren't much better.  uglystupid2 I do LIKE the 2nd amendment ad though-0400 woman alone dials 911 opens the gun safe and the gun safe is EMPTY!  tickedoff Another break brought 4 political ads 2 other commercials with one ad being for a feminine douche product-THAT was apropos!  cooldude NOT a fan of the Christmas ads BUT this year I'm actually looking forward to them.  2funny RIDE SAFE.

We record every show we watch and fast forward commercials of any kind. I won't even watch political ads from people I'm voting for. Waste of my time. I do my political research online when I want to, not force feed by them. Some sporting events are the only live TV we watch anymore.

I don't have cable. I can get four channels by local antenna but only watch the weather channel.

I don't watch daytime 'reality' shows. Just a bunch of idiots who can't manage their life so they let it all hang out for millions of viewers.

The only news that I get is from online and the newspapers.

I am like you I don’t have cable, I use an antenna to get my channels. Reality shows!!  The way I see it, those people have such a low opinion of themselves, they pimp themselves out basically to get attention.
Back when cable started, the point was you got movies and shows with no commercials, if I recall correctly.  The thing is, now on cable you get the commercials and on top you are paying to watch them, don’t matter if you blank them out or not, you still pay for them.  So bottom line is, you pay people to annoy you!

I agree. Cable has become a royal PITA. We never watch any network crap, mostly sports and premium channels. It's rare that we see any commercials.

On a different tangent, I went to the movies last night to see Sully. Excellent film, by the way. Absolutely the most accurate aviation film I've seen. But before the previews started, they had TWELVE commercials one after the other! That's probably the last film I see in a theater.

I remember when they started with one clever Coke commercial, probably 10 years ago at least. There was no small amount of outrage then. Slowly they've worked it up to the BS they have now.

rant off

Antenna and Netflix for about 7 years now. Should have bought Netflix shares at the very beginning  Sad

Also share Amazon Prime with a friend but I think Netflix has better to offer.

Yep, Netflix is the way to go for me. Although I can get "Blue bloods" on the local channel, I only watch it on Netflix, no commercials and only 42 minutes per episode.

Netflix has good 'foreign ' movies, sometimes better to watch, not a bunch of 'blow em Ups, shoot em ups, car chases, and crap (as long as I don't watch Steven Siegal movies) Smiley

Again, NO commercials!

I enjoy a great variety of shows.  I record EVERYTHING I watch and ff through all commercials.  I record the 4:30am to 6:00am local news every day and watch that when I get up.  Ff all commercials.  When I watch hockey, f1, nascar, football or baseball, I record it all and ff all commercials & game breaks.

I only get political ads if I'm not quick on the draw.

If watching hockey and the game starts at 7:00pm, I start from the beginning around 8:00pm and get to the end just about the time the game is ending.

I record a ton of nature shows on many channels,  but it feels weird that I don't have to ff through those on PBS. Smiley

I don't even read the newspapers an only watch the local news and Archie Bunker. I like Edith.

Recent month's I discovered Youtube as a tv channel. It's amazing how many tv shows you can find. Sometimes with an ad at the beginning (which you can skip after four seconds) but most of the times there is no ad. I like Jay Leno's garage and Escape to the country!

YouTube rocks! So many different things to see and learn.

News "shows"? Nah.

So many commercials, so little content.

Weather in 3 minutes, at most, for all day.

Show me the radar. Weather movements.  Good to go.

Ride safe, y'all.

Let the TV run in the shop for background noise.  Often run some of the restoration type garage shows on Velocity mostly.  If they stay away from the stupid drama / conflict crap.  They actually repair and fab things that I sometimes learn shop tips from.  Used to watch fox news but I get so pissed at the liberals it just puts me in a bad mood how they are ruining my country.  Can't stand to be fed the lies and spin from the lamestream media so they are never on.  I'm in denial I suppose.  I do watch O'Reilly if he isn't substituted and sometimes Outnumbered.  Fox does have the best babes on the news...
