You'll have to open the link and follow through the story, believe me it's worth the few minutes.

This tells me the conduct of our present day leaders and aspirants thereto are even more shameful than my past opinion.

That so many fought and died to preserve the right to behave in this disgraceful manner is beyond belief.

Very powerful.  As a youth I read a historical book totally on the battle of Guadalcanal.  My best buddies dad fought as a Marine there, and other battles as well.  He never talked about it.  A big thank you to all VRCC members who have served.

What a great post  cooldude Thanks for sharing it with us. As an aside, I am glad to see thy haven't closed the Marine basic training station in San Diego. I was processed at the Navy training station up the hill from them and used to watch them all the time. Sadly the Navy basic was closed many years ago.  Embarrassed

Although not exclusive to the Marines, some of the most courageous and disciplined people I've ever known served as Marines.   I think those two characteristics go together.

I'm always proud to meet one and shake their hands.  Meeting this Marine would be special.

God bless these guys!  Certainly the greatest generation and the Korea guys with Chesty Puller and the 1st Marine Division are on level ground with them, too.  I got to brief a group of the Frozen Chosin after I returned from Iraq in 03.  They were far too kind and started telling me that war was indeed no different than their day.  HAHHH!  No, sir, I read about your war and ours was nowhere near that harrowing!
