You can count the seconds on one fing hand before that cop shot him.

And how long are you supposed to let someone point a gun at you before you react????

You watch that video and tell me he pointed the gun...and since when does a cop pull his cruiser up to within 10' of someone with a gun? That cop was shooting before the kid knew what he was saying. That cop should be in jail!

Unfortunately, I can't see what the LEO saw, I can't see everything the kid is doing and I can't read any of their minds to know what they were thinking.    I think this is one of those "perspective" things.    You see something I don't.   First time I've seen that video and I can't honestly say I agree with your assessment.

I'm also not a cop assigned to go into a crime ridden area where gang members shoot folks for fun.   Hard for me to blame the LEOs for shooting a kid pulling a gun.   But, I'm sure that they'd be happy to let you or others police the area should you choose to volunteer.

LEOs have a very difficult job.   Many never go home because of split decisions they don't make quite quick enough.    Wouldn't matter to me what the age or race of the offender was, pull a gun, expect a reaction.

[/quote]I'm sure glad things were different when I grew up. My brothers and I would have BB gun wars around our neighborhood. I shudder to think what would happen to us these days. Those cops did several things wrong. First was flying up to that kid. If they had have stopped in the street and observed him for 5 seconds they would have realized he was a kid playing.

Sadly the president "needs and breeds" racism and resentment and seems to support anything which hurts America.

Intentionally importing people into our country who hate us and want to kill us.

Encouraging criminals to riot and assassinate police officers, who then are forced to live and work with a "finger on the trigger".

Who then perhaps, become a little too fast on the draw.

Then more crime and riots and injuries.

Then more police are forced into "hair trigger" syndrome.

And then it just spirals on, worse and worse as the dems and media feed it and encourage it.

We both know there is no need for me or anyone to answer that. If the answer is not obvious to you then it's because you choose not to see it.

When I was a young kid my Dad accused me of "having a chip on my shoulder". I didn't understand what he meant and even after he explained the concept I didn't see how it applied to me. I'm sure my Dad was right in his assessment of my behavior and have always wished I had not disappointed him in this way.

That's how I view most of the "protesters" on the tv. They are looking for trouble and willing to go out of their way to find it. Same with some of the people who are shot by police. To not respond to a police officers commands, especially when the office has his weapon out of it's holster, makes you a poster child for stupid and when you are shot your chip has just been knocked off.

So where does 12 yr old Tamir Rice fit in?

It leaves him in the category of someone who reached for a gun when the police approached.  It was a mistake in retrospect, but who initiated the mistake?  The investigation clearly indicated the gun looked like a firearm.  Information later released indicated the officer who fired had been judged as emotionally unstable in the past.  I wonder how many people who find this unacceptable would like for the police officers to take a couple of shots toward them before they decide they're being threatened with a real firearm?

You can count the seconds on one fing hand before that cop shot him.

How many seconds SHOULD a cop wait before shooting, when threatened with a gun?  How many seconds does it take to pull a trigger?

It takes far less than one.  I guess you must be in the crowd that wants a cop to NOT FIRE UNTIL FIRED UPON.  But then, you would probably want to wait until after a second shot, just in case the first was a mistake.
